'The Vampire Diaries': Damon hides his feelings and Elena's in danger again

We know you're struggling through "The Vampire Diaries" eighty-year-long hiatus at the moment, but fear not! The show returns on Thursday, Jan. 27 with "The Descent," and there's even more love triangle drama than usual in Mystic Falls.Rose (Lauren Cohan) is rapidly deteriorating from her werewolf bite, but she still finds the time to prod Elena (Nina Dobrev) into possibly admitting that she may have feelings for both brothers. "It's okay to love them both," Rose says - but keeping an eye on Rose quickly becomes dangerous for Elena as their heart-to-heart goes terribly wrong.
The "life-and-death crisis" hits home for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) more than he'd expected, and once again, he finds himself struggling to keep his feelings in check to avoid baring his soul to anybody. Can't let anyone catch the great Damon Salvatore in a moment of weakness, of course!
He'll seek Jules out to look for a possible cure for Rose, but Jules stubbornly tells him that the only cure for Rose's affliction is death. Ouch. Judging by the preview photo, Elena may be more willing to comfort Damon than she has been in the past.
Stefan (Paul Wesley), however, is distracted by Elena's determination to save her friends... even at her own expense.
Meanwhile, Caroline (Candice Accola) has the best problem in the world: both Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) are totally into her. Matt tries to rebuild their relationship and come clean about the fact that he still wants to be with her, but after their life-changing night in the cellar together, Tyler can't shake his feelings for her either.
Poor, poor Caroline. We really feel her pain.

It's obvious Damons feelings etc will be about Elena etc lol. Poor guy I love him but I wish he realised Elena lives in denial word.

Caroline will not choose either Matt or Tyler. She is in love with Matt, but he is human and she is a vampire. Because she loves him, Caroline will not want to bring this into Matt's life. As for Tyler, she just wants to be his friend.
The next episode, The Descent, is going to be very sad. I think Damon has to kill Rose to protect Elena and this will weigh heavily on him. Rose was his friend and Damon takes his friendships seriously. Look for things to get very bloody in Mystic Falls as Damon wages war on the werewolves. Hopefully, Tyler will be an ally because of Caroline.
I think it'll be sad for Damon because he finally found a friend who gets what he feels like. Even though said friend may be a terribly annoying, weaky, whiny, hoe, just all around poorly done character. And because I care a lot about Damon and am able to really, truly identify with him - it'll definitely be sad. BUT, sit down children! - I cannot find words for how utterly glad I will be when she finally bites the dust! Her character honestly feels forced on us. And I'm incredibly glad for the Damon/Elena hug. It shows progress in their relationship, and emotional connection.
I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Jules at first - but you know, I really like her. She's a strong kick-*** female character who doesn't back down (unlike another female character *cough* ROSE *cough*). So, I'm interested to see where they're planning on taking her character. :)
As for the Tyler/Caroline/Matt triangle...
I have to say, I much prefer Tyler/Caroline.
Matt will always hold that special place in her heart as her first love... but what do they share anymore?
Sure, be friends - I mean, they're always going to care for each other - but they honestly don't have much between them anymore. She needs to move on to other things, and I think her and Tyler are a perfect match. They have really gritty chemistry, and share an understanding and an experience that Matt could never understand. I feel like her and Matt's story is in the past, and the love triangle sure is going to be interesting - but as I said, I think it's time to move on.
..and I haven't been enjoying Stefan lately. Honestly boy, give Elena her space. Your her boyfriend, not her parent, alright? Sure protect her when her life is in danger - but he takes it all to the extreme and is such a control freak.
As with Supernatural I hate having to wait until the END of January for a new episode .

Love Caroline, I hope she picks Tyler. I am hoping Matt falls for some sweet human girt that treats him well, he deserves it. As for Damon I love the Damon who kills/tortures and sleeps with alot of beautiful women. The Damon who follows his little brothers girlfriend around is really getting boring. Yes, I know the Damon fans want him with Elena, but come on it's just weird. Sleeping with your brothers girlfriend knowing he has slepted with her. So tired of this show turning into the Damon show.
Have to disagree with Sarah, sorry...no disrepect. TVD is not turning into a Damon show, far from it. All 3 main characters are equally important. Yes Damon loves Elena but he's not even pursuing her. There aren't even that many Delena scenes so far this season and most of the ones there are, he's either saving or protecting her.
Personally I don't want Delena anytime soon, later maybe. I'd prefer it if they work on being good friends again first. And it looks like that exactly was the hug in the picture is about...Elena being a friend to Damon. Anyway this pic tells me that Rose will die, why else would Elena hug Damon :(
i would so totally pick Tyler, she can be far more honest with him tha she can be with Matt (ok, aside from keeping the whole Damon killing Mason thing a secret). with ,Matt she can't be honest because firstly it will mean putting all the other vampires that we love at risk, secondly she will have to confess to biting him because he remembers that he was hurt only he thinks it was an animal but he is not stupid, he will put two and two together. and then there is the whole Stephan killing his sis after Damon turned her and Elena knowing it and not telling him. all that might potentially come out if he will be let any closer in their world.
besides, they have Jules as the enemy, it would be nice to have a werewolf on their side. they would sort of be complete:

if both Matt and Tyler were into me, i'd die of happiness. seriously, all the male cast are HAWT
I hope Caroline picks Matt. I just wish that the Damon fans would calm down and let one episode go by for the rest of us that enjoy ALL the characters. This show isn't just Damon. It's so annoying...all they do is whine he't not in every scene. It really ruins the show. I love finding out about what each character is about and why they are the way they are. As for Damon, to be quite honest with you. This season of him acting all whimpy and chasing is younger brothers girlfriend is boring. He's alot older then Elena(nina) by what 10 years. A man of that age should be chasing alot of different women and having wild times. I did enjoy the Damon of season 1, the killer, user of women and didn't give a rats *** about anyone. He's a great character...just getting a little too obvious and boring.
@Amy - where u do see Damon chasing after Elena this season. Someone already said there's not many scenes between them this season, he's too busy saving her or protecting her. There's only a few comments posted and I don't see anyone whining about Damon not being in every scene. What's with the Damon-bashing? As for the 10 year age difference, it's between Ian and Nina, not Damon and Elena.
