'Supernatural': Genevieve Cortese returns as Jared Padalecki's wife (literally)
"Supernatural" fans, Ruby's coming back from the dead... sort of. Genevieve Cortese, the second actress to play the demon who nearly succeeded at luring Sam (Jared Padalecki) to the dark side, will be returning for a mind-bender of an episode later this season.
In the episode, Sam and Dean wake up in an alternate universe... where they're actors named Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, starring on (wait for it...) a TV show called "Supernatural." According to the newly launched TVLine.com, Cortese -- Padalecki's former co-star and real-life wife -- will be returning to the show to play the alternate-universe version of, well, herself. (Yes, even fictional Jared is off the market, girls.)
The episode is set to air close to the Padaleckis' late-February first wedding anniversary. Talk about demolishing that fourth wall! Will the fictional versions of Jensen and Jared be anything like their real-life counterparts?
FYI, don't expect to see Ackles' wife, "One Tree Hill's" Danneel Harris, pop up in the episode. Zap2it visited Harris on the set of her new NBC comedy, "Friends With Benefits," this fall, and she laughed off the possible suggestion of ever guest-starring on her new husband's show.
"I don't think that'd go over too well. I'm honestly so happy where I am right now," she told us. "I love visiting their set, but it's fun to just watch Jensen do his thing."
Let us know your thoughts, "Supernatural" fans! How do you think Sam will react to waking up and discovering that he's married to a woman who looks just like Ruby? Do you like the idea of breaking down the fourth wall? What other dead characters would you like to see return?

I'm so excited! The show does great meta episodes and I don't expect this to be any different. And I bet a guest appearance by Danneel on Supernatural would go over a lot better than she thinks it would. Can't wait for this episode!
It's absolutely insane..the writers are really craziest writers..
I don't know what to say besides repeat the word "crazy". I'll be waiting for this episode.
Sounds like fun! Love Genevieve! It would have been great to have Danneel, too, but it should be wonderful! Love SPN's "crazy" meta episodes!
I remember a time when everyone thought Genevieve couldn't act on Supernatural UNTIL the rumors of her dating Jared and then actually marrying Jared did those same people express how AWESOME and TALENTED she is. Nice back peddling.
Oh my! This is gonna be the worst SPN episode EVER!
The idea with this alternate universum is funny. But do they have to make it THAT realistic?! It would be lot more funnier when the real Jensen and Jared would be totaly douche bags, who are needing somebody to hold their coffee.
I don´t wanna see a Sam who is looking on weeding pics with Gen, or lame crap like that.
I love Jared, but he doesn´t need to show us all the time how happy married he is. That has nothing to do with Supernatural.
Why does it have to be THAT realistic?! The idea with the alternate universum is funny. But why couldn´t they make Jensen and Jared, like two douche bags, who are needing somebody to hold their coffee. Why? I really like Jared a lot, but I don´t wanna see Sam how he gets all soppy about wedding pictures of Jay and Gen! That has absolutely nothing to do, with Supernatural.
Oh boy I hope that will not break the shows neck, for good. I mean more then half of the season with that RoboSam and then such a stupid comeback, from one the most hated characters. Yeah well done!
Oh sorry for the double post. Lost the internet connection and thought my first comment just vanished.
To be honest, I didn't like Genevieve as Ruby. I didn't see her right for the role... she wasn't the badass ***** demon that Ruby was. I was disappointed that Genevieve was casted for that role, after Katie Cassidy did an amazing job.

The alternative universe sounds like a great idea. I always enjoyed the wacky, humorous episodes.
(sorry for the double post but I had to make some corrections.
