'Sister Wives': Brown family moving from Utah to Nevada
As the saying goes-- if you can't stand the heat, move your four wives and 14 children out of the kitchen.Reuters is reporting that Kody Brown and his family from the TLC reality series "Sister Wives" is moving to Nevada after the notoriety they gained from the show brought a criminal bigamy investigation to their doors in Utah.
"The family is pursuing new opportunities in Nevada. I see no legal reason why their family cannot live and continue to thrive in Nevada as they have in Utah," lawyer Jonathan Turley tells Reuters.
Brown is only legally married to Meri, his first wife, but Janelle, Christine and Robyn are in the family as "sister wives" and the five adults plus their 14 children live in one big house together in Lehi, a city south of Salt Lake. (Well, Robyn will be moving in following her wedding to Kody, we assume).
The Lehi Police Department has completed its investigation and turned the findings over to the Utah County Attorney's Office. No charges have been filed.
"In the past, state officials have made it clear to polygamous families in Utah that they would not proceed against them absent evidence of some collateral crime such as child abuse. No such crimes were found in the Brown family after an extensive field investigation," Turley says.

How could Robyn and Kody have gotten married if he already is married to someone else? The marriage would be illegal and invalid. Legally he can only be married to one person.
I do watch the show, Linda, that was what I meant. That now that they are married, they'll all live together.
Guess you don't watch the show Andrea. Robyn and Kody got married late last summer (I believe) and because there was no room in the other house, she is living in a house of her own a block away from the others. Hopefully they'll be able to find something in Nevada that can accommodate them all!
The true stupidity here is that the "husband" has no legal rights where the 2nd, 3rd and 4th wives are concerned - has no say if any of them are hospitalized - or in any other area.
I quite frankly think all 4 women ned to be institutionalized - if for no other reason than being complete dumbasses.
Kody Brown is an egoist and not married to these women out of religious beliefs but because he found 4 women stupid enough to let him get away with it. Shame on Utah for turning a blind eye on this trailer trash. They are doing unreparable hard to their children and likely working the system for things like Medicaid and food stamps.
@ TJ Spyke: I've seen the show on TLC a few times and his "wedding" to Robin was just a polygamous ceremony. Cody is only truly legally married to Meri (his first wife).Janelle, Christine and Robyn are in the family as "sister wives".
could be worse, the sister wives could each get a real husband, and then they could all wife swap
Will they be ripping off the taxpayers of Nevada, with the 2nd, 3rd, etc wives and mothers claiming to be single parents and applying for state benefits?
How would it go over if one of the "wives" decided to bring home another "brother husband"?
I wonder how the "sister wives" will explain family orientation to their children: this is your sibling; this is your cousin, s/he's the same person.
