'Real Housewives of Atlanta's' Cynthia Bailey won't defend Peter: 'Peter's grown'
This season on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," we've watched Cynthia Bailey agonize over whether she would marry her then-boyfriend, Peter Thomas. Then a few episodes ago and just a few weeks before their wedding ceremony. He dropped a bomb on her when he told her after the fact that he had closed down his nightclub.
That came off horribly for fans, but especially for the housewife. Cynthia had invested her own money in the club and she was relying on the business to deliver the cash to finish paying off her wedding.
Zap2it spoke to Cynthia about the fans' take on Peter.
Many fans are pretty angry with Peter. As a first-season housewife, were you surprised by their reaction?
You think? [Laughs] I think I'm going to get kidnapped in my sleep. There's like a team of people gathering right now to come and save Cynthia. They are just like, 'We hate this guy.' Like, 'You can't marry him.' It's amazing to me how people get so involved in the show. When I see people out, people are like, 'Are you okay?' I'm like, 'Oh my God, are you guys kidding me? I'm fine.' The wedding's happened at this point. At any case, I didn't realize going into this how personal people take our storylines. People tweet me, put on my Facebook, and on my blogs saying when I cry, they cry.
Would you like to defend Peter?
I'm not going to defend Peter. Peter's grown. He knew the cameras were rolling and everything that came out he had a choice in that situation. The only thing we decided going into the show was, you know, we were just going to be us. We were going to be real. And if he was having a bad day and the cameras were here then they shot him having a bad day.
You have to agree Peter doesn't come off too well, though.
From watching the show, he really has some real ***hole moments. But at the same time, we're not actors, this was really happening. And he didn't want to be shot those days. And it's Peter's personality. I can't defend him. I don't want to defend him. I'll just say that my husband is a great guy and he can be a great jerk when he feels like it. He's not perfect and guess what? I'm not either.
In terms of a lot of those situations you guys see, that's three hours of shooting. You guys may see a five-minute snippet of that. So, trust me. In my household, if there's any fighting in here, it's a two-way fight. It's not like Peter is just this grumpy guy that I'm supposed to marry and I'm just perfect and I never go at him.

It just appauls me that one would enjoy a show like Housewives of Atlanta and pour thousand of dollars an episode when there are so many ppl struggling with the economy nowadays. It is also ashame that a person like NeNe Leakes is undoubtedly representing the women of Atlanta which is a far cry from the ATL women. NeNe Leakes has to be the most ignorant woman that I have ever seen...guessing that the producers just like stereotyping black women to benefit ratings! Shame on you NeNe for being so ignorant just to get paid with no morals of defacing the REAL educated women of ATL....Embarrassed for the women of ATL!!! Andy Cohen, enjoy getting paid on behalf of black women!!! LMBO!!!!

funny how people love to throw rocks and hide their hand. Their is nothing wrong with NENE! Shes funny, fiesty, and lives well. I lived in atlanta approx. 5 years and she reminds me of a lot of women who are their. There are a lot of wannabes NENE in Atlanta! Except when they ride away their pushing a toyota!lol Leave NENE and the cast alone!! They are in different pay brackets, but they also have different problems. And your going to hate me for this but o well. Black women in Atlanta are high priced heftas, trying to binge off men who got something until u go back to the projects where u live. Stop fronting and be yourselves!! theses ladies may not have start off with money, but its not where u start its where u in!! haters!!!!

I can't stand fame seeking loud mouth Nene. She needs to worry about her drug addict son instead of trying to be a diva. I can't believe the comment that she made on the show with Andy when someone called in about her ugly ***** falling out everywhere and she said not to look and change the channel. WHATEVER!!! Your plastic surgeon definetely needs to do LOTS more work on your fat butt. You look trashy trying to squeeze into TOO LITTLE CLOTHES.

As for women in Atlanta, they all live fairy tale lives and SOME seek one thing out of men... Money.. I'm a realist, that's why I treat the few gold diggers accordingly..Don't be mad at me when you wake up in the morning feeling less of a women.. you attempted to play me and got played(KARMA.) Their is a Ne Ne in every race. So get over it. It is only a t.v. show.
Nene doesn't 'represent' anyone other than herself.
I mean, can a black person be an 'individual', for once? The minute some random black person does something unflattering, some people have to rush to 'claim' the behavior. You don't fight the monolith myth by embracing it.
It's sickening.

Let's be honest: NENE isn't the only one on the show. NENE is the only one that some people choose to focus on. Therein lies the difference. So, WHY is that?
I'll tell you what's bothersome: Why do some of you define your own people by the 'walking stereotype'?
Is Kandi - the self-made woman - indecent? Is Cynthia not a nice and personable lady? Wasn't Deshawn a nice, giving and quiet woman...?
Hell, who knows? Who cares, right? 'We're going to pick the worst sort of black woman on the show and attribute 'her' behavior to all black women in Atlanta(indeed, the entire world).'

If one 'character' on a random reality tv show is enough to f*ck your world up...then I wonder how you cope with everyday real-life stressors w/o falling apart?
Besides, have you bothered to watch the 'other' Housewives? They're a bigger mess than any of the Atlanta wives. I know one thing: No ATL child is cursing their parents, drunk or strung out. No ATL wife is running around defrauding small businesses.
NENE makes for good tv. That's all. Personally, I don't see that she's such a gold-digger. She's working. Greg didn't contribute to what she's doing to the rumored extent. He admitted this on tv. Furthermore, since his business is real estate and real estate is 'shaky' in certain areas...she has been carrying him. If she was ever 'indebted' to him, I'd probably call it 'even' at this point.
With her current occupation? NENE has used her connections and talents to make a path for herself. Honestly, I don't understand the problem.
Hell, Sherae is a talentless and uneducated gold-digger. She brought nothing to her relationship with her ex besides her uterus. Who ever heard of a designer who couldn't sew OR design?
Kim is another one. A singer who can't sing (or dance or perform). A gold-digging, character-less hag who 'lays up' with married men...who also stiffed Kandi (and her associates) of her earnings and doesn't even have the decency to feel shame for doing so! Even IF her lawyers counseled her to the contrary action, she and Kandi had a 'gentleman's agreement'. She STILL should've given Kandi and Co their share.
Yet everyone slams NENE...?
You don't have to like the woman but to minimize her abilities and personal success...AND place her at the level of Kim and Sherae: THE REAL GOLD-DIGGERS OF THE SHOW? That's just unwarranted.
At least she is making it by her own merit. I support what NENE's trying to do with her career. Her personality is suitable for media....

IMO, Cynthia's husband is something of a d*ck but, hell...she married him. That's her. Mine acts...similarly, at times. Well, everyone can't front for the camera 24/7...y'know?
Personally, if I were him I wouldn't have even gone on the show. When I'm in a bad mood? I'm in a mood. Cameras be d*mned...
