Paula Abdul: 'I have a brain'

paula-abdul-sunday-morning.jpgPaula Abdul has a show premiering on CBS this week, so she was the subject of a profile on CBS News on Sunday (Jan. 2). And the interview provided a couple of uniquely Paula moments.

Abdul, whose show "Live to Dance" premieres Tuesday, sat down for a "Sunday Morning" interview with Julie Chen in which she talked about her love for dance, her time on "American Idol" ... and the fact that she does, in fact, have a brain.

Chen asked Abdul what was something that people say about her that she and her friends know isn't true. "I am intelligent," Abdul says.

Chen: "People don't give you enough credit for having a brain."

Abdul: "Having a brain -- that's a concept, yes, with Paula Abdul. I have a brain."

We all know where that particular snark comes from. Abdul's frequently loopy commentary on "Idol" fueled talk not just that she was ditzy but also that she might have some sort drinking problem -- which she flatly denies to Chen.

"I've never been drunk in my life. I don't use recreational drugs," she says. "But I am goofy. It's Paula. ... Even the people on 'Idol' know none of that existed ever."

She also talks about tracing her love of dance to seeing "Singin' in the Rain" on television when she was a little girl and whether there's "someone special" in her life. Actually, she didn't really talk about that, other than to tell Chen that there is, in fact, someone. "To me, my personal life is just that. It's personal," she says. "And I take pride in that."

A glorified dancer that got a nose job and lucky.

So she must have seen the Wizard after all and maybe Chenbot joined her to get some of those brains too that they've both been lacking as of late.
