'Nikita's' Maggie Q and Lyndsy Fonseca talk possible Nikita/Michael/Alex love triangle

When "Nikita" returns on Thursday, Jan. 27, viewers will be introduced to Alex's (Lyndsy Fonseca) new love interest, Nathan (Thad Luckinbill). They will also see a kiss between Nikita (Maggie Q) and Ryan Fletcher (Noah Bean).

Fans of Michael (Shane West) probably won't be too happy about those developments. "Mikita" shippers (Michael and Nikita fans for all you TV amateurs) weren't pleased when they saw the Nikita/Ryan kiss in the promo and another legion of fans are actually rooting for a Michael/Alex romance. (You can call them "Malex" fans. We think.)

We sat down with Maggie and Lyndsy at the The CW's winter television critics association press tour where we had to ask their thoughts on the show possibly exploring a love triangle between the three characters. Their opinions are pretty much polar opposite. And by pretty much, we mean totally.

Maggie: "It's hard for me to think that because she's so young. It feels creepy to me. I think if they did that it would be weird. She's 19 and he's a man. I hope not because I don't think that reads well. I think if they wanted to introduce a love triangle with another woman they could do that, you know, introduce another woman that maybe Michael's interested in. "

Lyndsy: "Absolutely. I think anything is possible with any of the characters being involved with each other. I think if it happens it'll have to happen for the right reasons. It won't just be because, 'Oh, we have to try this!' If Craig's [Silverstein, executive producer] gonna write it, it's going to be for a specific reason that's going to have a lot of impact on all the characters."

See? One thing the two kick-ass women can agree on is that Michael is seeing a version of Nikita in Alex and that may be why he seems to favor her over all the other recruits.

nikita-alex-michael.jpg"I think part of the reason she stands out to him at all is because she is a version of Nikita. Nikita has given birth to this person. So what he is seeing is exactly what he loved all those years ago, that person," Maggie says. "It is her, it's her creation. So I don't think Michael even realizes that yet and when he does it's going to be a real bucket of ice in the face sort of thing."

Lyndsy continues, "I think Michael sees a lot of Nikita in Alex and that's why he as a soft spot for her. He doesn't treat any of the other recruits like he does Alex. He let's her get away with certain things or protects her and has her back."

Of course, any potential romance between Michael and Alex could be derailed by the whole Alex secretly sabotaging the company Michael works for thing. Will Michael soon find out that Alex is actually working with Nikita? The ladies wouldn't divulge that answer, but with a sly smile Lyndsy says, "Big things are going to be coming as far as what Michael discovers and finds out. He doesn't stay unknowing much longer."

Watch an all-new episode of "Nikita" on Thursday, Jan. 27, at 9 pm ET on The CW.

I have to say I agree completely with everything Maggie Q said. I just fall in love with this woman more and more with each interview. She speaks truth! She understands her character, the relationships, the show, and every damn aspect about it, etc. so freaking much and I adore her for that. I have to agree with her it'd be creepy for me considering he's so much older & given her past. No, just no. Team Mikita all the way. :)

Maggie Q, gurl, you ROCK! That's all.

Oh PUH-lease! I kinda tolerate Lyndsy as Alex and everything, and look forward to the Nikita/Alex relationship and now Nathan/Alex (once rly liked Thom/Alex too...) but dude...now... just....NO.

What Maggie said... SO ON! The girl (alex) is an effing child compared to Michael... Like Shane has said, its GROSS.
And clearly Shane & Maggie are mature enough and actually care about the content of this show to know better than to want "that" relationship to even be brought up, much less followed through on!

Personally? I'm really trying to not be a ***** here.. LOL. But i think the only reason Lyndsy would want a Michael/Alex thing, is so that it causes so much drama between Michael/Nikita (clearly the biggest fanbase, always will be, because Michael&Nikita belong together... always have), thus, getting her a LOT of publicity and making her have a bigger part (as if she doesn't already) on the show.

Because there is absolutely no reason for them to do that to the show. I cannot think of one reason or scenario where that hookup would be beneficial to "all the characters" as Lyndsy so bluntly said.

So yeah... I'll pass.
Maggie Q - You speak the truth! Everything in her answers in this, makes logical sense, and just is plainly right on.

p.s: I know i may get hate from what i've said. But idgaf. Lol i'm just stating my opinion.

WORD to Jen, and everything you said above ^^^

Maggie just knows what UP. And she ******* rocks!

Team Mikita....so agree with Maggie Q. =)

I agree with Maggie, but lately, I find that I basically ALWAYS agree with the woman. :')

Yes maggie q knows her ****. It's always been mikita and always will be. thanx for the interview!

It's funny because the actor who is playing Nathan is 35, 3 years older than Shane West.
I find it odd that couldn't find someone closer to Lyndsy's age for the role.
Yes, I do realize that Lyndsy and Thad were a couple on Y&R, but that was even creepier because she was 14 and he was 28 at the time.

Hmmmm with Maggie on this one. Hopefully there will never ever be a triangle between these 3. It'd certainly not impact the characters in a good way. I adore the Nikita/Alex friendship and it'd destroy that for me. Michael and Nikita have a history and Alex knows this. This isn't a drama that needs a triangle between the main. It's a diff show and I love it for that. Hope it stays that way.

They should throw everyone a curveball and get Nikita and Alex romantically involved. Watch the Internet go nuts!
