'Law & Order: LA' goes on hiatus, 'Parenthood' stays on Tuesday
It looks like the retooling of "Law & Order: Los Angeles" is going to take a little while.NBC said Tuesday (Jan. 18) that it's putting "LOLA" on hiatus until "a day to be determined." NBC's original midseason schedule had the show moving to 10 p.m. ET Tuesdays starting Feb. 8, but instead it's keeping "Parenthood" in that spot for the remainder of the season.
Additionally, the network is moving "America's Next Great Restaurant," which was slated for Wednesdays starting March 16, to 8 p.m. Sundays starting March 6. It displaces the second season of "The Marriage Ref," which is also off the schedule until an undetermined future date. "Next Great Restaurant" will be paired with "The Celebrity Apprentice" on Sundays; there's no word on what will fill the Wednesday hole (though repeats of "Law & Order: SVU" are a decent bet).
"Law & Order" creator Dick Wolf announced last week that three cast members (Skeet Ulrich, Megan Boone and Regina Hall) were departing "LOLA," while Alfred Molina, who's currently playing an assistant district attorney, will give up practicing law and go back on the streets (in a new bit of backstory) as a detective alongside Corey Stoll. Terrence Howard will be the every-episode proseuctor; his second chair has yet to be cast.
"Parenthood," meanwhile, had been scheduled to move to 10 o'clock Monday nights in March; what will go there after "Harry's Law," which premiered to decent numbers on Monday, finishes its run remains to be seen.

They should just cut their losses. They wanted to work, it didn't. Move on.
Law & Order L.A. aired only eight episodes since its debut but it doesn't look good for LOLA now that Skeet Ulrich is gone as well as two of the series' female leads who also played lawyers on the show.
Without Skeet Ulrich, I'm not interested.
I understand wanting to get the most use from Molina and Howard, but the idea of a ADA at the level of Molina's character going back to becoming a cop is the dumbest idea ever. It's like Sam Waterston on the original deciding to hit the beat--it's almost impossible to believe that it could work. I miss the original so much now--it had really been invigorated in the last few seasons.
I really like the show and totally didn't expect to. I figured it'd zero in on all the glitz of Hollywood, but it has had interesting stories and been pretty low key, which I appreciated.
I've had a hard time FINDING it - I think HIATUS is TV-speak for cancelled.
Losing half it's original cast was a bad idea, so it probably doesn't much matter.
TOO many L&O spinoffs on the air as it is. Quit while you're ahead and cancel L&O LA right here and now and get rid of Marriage Ref immediately and Celebrity Apprentice after this season. New regime should mean more changes that are in tune with the viewers and not what management thinks might work, versus what the old regime did to this once-proud network the last several years time. Clean this network up!
Bring back Law & Order, based in
NYC. Like Dragnet, there are millions of stories to tell about the streets of NYC.
I only watched for Skeet Ulrich, now that he's gone -- no point really. I hope CBS picks him up for a GOOD show. I really wanted to see BACK, it sounded interesting.
Skeet was the one bright spot in the cast....the others should go. Goodbye LOLA!
BRING SKEET BACK!!!
