'Harry's Law': What do you think of David E. Kelley's new show?

"Harry's Law" premiered Monday night, bringing writer-producer David E. Kelley back to television for the first time since "Boston Legal" ended in 2008. The reviews have been, how to put this, less than kind. Critics have taken aim at Kelley's usual mix of political topicality and off-kilter antics -- the title character (Kathy Bates) sets up shop in an abandoned shoe store after being fired from her job as a patent attorney -- and generally said that it feels like they've seen this trick before on "Boston Legal," "Ally McBeal" and other Kelley shows.
We liked Bates' lead performance as Harry -- she rarely turns in bad work, and she elevates several scenes in Monday's (Jan. 17) premiere -- but we agree that the tone is kind of all over the map. And the courtroom scenes? Hoo boy.

I liked it, it was different. I didn't watch Ally or The Practice until the couple last seasons, I loved Boston Legal, and this is good as well. I will be back next week to watch the show because there is something about Kathy Bates that just draws me to whatever she is in. Hopefully it will be on for awhile, it was a good show.
I was never one for a David E Kelly show so I didn't watch any of the, however I was hoping to see the pilot with Kristen Chenoweth but NBC did't pick it up..I thought this show was pretty good and made me want to come back to Monday nights at 10:00..I hope NBC sticks with it, Kathy Bates does draw you in....
I am going to be watching it on hulu. But ever since I heard about Kathy Bates being in this show I had to see it. She is an amazing actress. She is confident, remarkable and stunning individual. She has a range that very few can pull off.
Loved it. Love David Kelly and his humor. Nice to see someone over thirty five for a change Katy Bates rocks. Just goes to show you new is not always better. Go Kathy and Betty White tv needs you and more like you.

Kathy Bates was great in this new show. I have always loved her movies, but she really has a winner on this show.
Entertaining, totally entertaining. Quirky, too. It's my opinion we need more quirky in our lives, to take our minds off reality when it gets heavy. I thought each actor did a great job with their characters--they made we want to know more about them and their lives. What else are they supposed to do? Oh, I'll be back, with bells on!

Not a fan. I had such high hopes as i really enjoyed the previous work of both David E. Kelly and Kathy Bates. I found the writing to be contrived. The storylines were boderline racist and unoriginal.
I hope that the show improves in the weeks to come.
Great show! Great Kathy! But greater still is the writing and the reminder that we still live in an apartheid America. Bravo David Kelly.
