CBS on Charlie Sheen: We're concerned, but ...

charlie-sheen-two-and-a-half-men-320.jpgThe first question CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler fielded Friday (Jan. 14) at the TV critics winter press tour was about "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen. The query surprised no one -- including Tassler.

"Well, I really didn't expect that question this morning," she deadpanned.

Even though she had an answer at the ready, though, she didn't just dismiss it. Tassler acknowledges that she's concerned about the headline-grabbing nature of Sheen's off-camera life -- most recently a reported Las Vegas bender in the company of several porn actresses -- but also that it hasn't yet affected either his work on "Two and a Half Men" or the show's standing in the ratings.

"Look, obviously, we've thought, and I personally have thought, a lot about this, and we have a high level of concern. How could we not?" she says. "But I have to speak to this personally first. On a very basic, human level, [I have] concern, of course. This man is a father. He's got children. He has a family. So, obviously, there's concern on a personal level.

"But you can't look at it simplistically. Charlie is a professional. He comes to work. He does his job extremely well. We are taping tonight, and it's -- as I said, it's very complicated, but we have a very good relationship with Warner Bros. [which produces 'Men']. I have a tremendous trust and respect in the way they are managing the situation. So on a personal level, obviously concerned. On a professional level, he does his job. He does it well. The show is a hit, and that's really all I have to say."

Tassler did take one more question about whether Sheen has been made aware of how the network feels about his behavior, but basically reiterated her earlier point.

"I don't know what ... personal information has been given to him, but he certainly knows how we feel," Tassler says. "He knows the level of concern we have, and right now, the show continues to be as successful as it always is. Everybody is doing their job, and things are continuing as planned."

I am sick of Charlie Sheen's antics. He has a life that millions of people would love to have and he just does his best to ruin it. He acts like a spoiled 42 year old brat and I refuse to continue supporting him by watching his show.

Does the fact that his character on the show is essentially the same as his real life antics just give him the "positive feedback" that what he's doing is OK? Ya Think???

If they're really concerned about him, why not try to change the character a bit (and not keep pumping up his current ego)? They did for a little while but then threw it all out and put him back to square one again. I guess as long as the people who watch the show prefer him that way, that's the way he'll stay. Too bad.

honestly... who cares what his personal life is... if he does his job... obviously its not affecting his works whats so ever... and obviously the show is loaded... cuz they pay Charlie allan and jake a combine 2.6 mill an episode... so why should they care if they bring i n alkl this money and it doesnt affect his work... yes hes an *** in real life but he does an excellent job in the show....its an awesome show... idc what they say... they wont do anything to him as long as the show brings in this much money.... guarentee

hes an ***... yes... but the show brings in two much money for them to do anything about... as long as ppl watch ... which they do... and brings in money ... which it does... shown by the fact the three stars get paid a whoppin 2.6 mil in episode.. why on earth would they change it... it would be suicide for the company ... mark my word... im sure they have been "concerned" w/ him for years... and they havent done anything yet... why start now?

everyone accept for one person is missing the point. HE SHOWS UP ON TIME FOR WORK AND COMPLETES HIS CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS. Unlike the Lohans out there, that spit in everyone's face, CHARLIE SHEEN DOESN'T WHINE AND COMPLAIN AND BLAME OTHERS FOR HIS MISSTEPS. And he's single for crying out loud. Sure not everyone parties like him, I sure wouldn't, BUT SO WHAT? The only people he is hurting is himself and those pathetic hookers. It's no different than me going out to the bar after work, because I still do what I am supposed to the next day. ALL YOU WHINERS HERE, it's funny.
