CBS extends 'Mike & Molly,' 'Rules of Engagement' order; 'Smallville' may have two-hour finale

mike-and-molly-review.jpgA few TV tidbits to brighten up your Monday afternoon.

To make up for the loss of an expected eight episodes of "Two and a Half Men" due to Charlie Sheen's rehab stint, CBS has ordered an extra four episodes of "Mike & Molly" and "Rules of Engagement." This brings both of those series to a total of 26 episodes this season. There has been no talk of shooting episodes of "Two and a Half Men" around Sheen's absence. [THR]

Oprah Winfrey has ordered two new original series for OWN: "Searching for..." follows a professional genealogist and New Jersey housewife. "Breaking Down the Bars" looks at female prisoners trying to change their lives. Both shows premiere in mid-February. [THR]

"Supernatural"
fan favorite Chad Lindberg, who played Ash in Season 2 (and dead Ash in Season 5) is set to appear on NBC's "The Cape" as Hicks, a computer genius who discovers The Cape's identity. The episode airs Monday, February 7.

CBS is so dumb if they think people are gonna watch episodes of Mike & Molly and Rules... in place of 2.5 men. I have NEVER watched those shows and don't plan on it. If CBS had half a brain, they sould shoot 2.5 men without Charlie. I bet the ratings would be HUGE for that.

I liked M & M in the beginning. I had hoped it would be a sweet/cute old fashioned romance between two ordinary imperfect people trying to find love in the real world. Instead, it has been "dirtied" down to raunchy sexual jokes and poking fun at fat people. Those of you that watch 2.5 Men should really like M & M now. Rehab won't do CS any good when obviously he doesn't see any problem. Cancel both shows and give us some TV with better role models.

Justin, just because you don't watch something doesn't mean others don't. In fact, millions of people watch both shows. Also, you don't know what the inner workings are for a TV show. It's possible (and even likely) that CBS is contractually prohibited from producing an episode of Two and a Half Men without Charlie.

JennyJay,
Enough with your morals and prudish views. I don't want "role models" on my TV shows. I'm not a child. I'm an adult and I want entertainment. All four of CBS's sitcoms on Monday are quality entertainment. If you don't like it, don't watch it. But calling for their cancellation makes you seem extremely self-absorbed. Other people enjoy these shows. I don't like shows like CSI or House, but I've never said they should be cancelled. I just ignore them. Maybe you should do the same.

Hollywood Reporter and TV By The Numbers are reporting 4 more episodes total, 2 for each series. That would only be a total of 24 episodes for their seasons.

Just kill Two and a Half Men now. You'd be doing Sheen a favor—maybe that would bring him back from the brink—and I can't watch it anymore anyway, knowing what a scumbag he has become.

Why is the news making a big deal about Charlie Sheen behaving just like Charlie Harper? Life imitating art...or something like that. They could flip that and have the show follow reality by sending Charlie to rehab and shoot a few episodes without him. After all, they have built a good ensemble cast...seems a shame they and the filming crew are out of work because of the selfishness of 1 entitled individual (seems like I've heard that story somewhere before)

Aside from that a note to the producers: MORE ROSE!!!

I agree that there should be more of Rose on the show. She is a breath of fresh "tainted" air in contrast to Charlie. Her sweet but demented demeanor adds a more subtle humor and she is so likeable. I especially like to watch in HD picture quality on my DISH Network HD receiver. Ever since I started working for DISH I have wanted HD service and now I finally have an HD TV and service and I love it. The picture comes in so clear on my 50' TV and without HD it is kind of blurry. Plus I have over 200 HD channels to watch all the time. You should check it out!

I used to watch M&M not anymore, too rauchy and frankly not funny. And even though I am an adult, there should be parameters for primetime television language and jokes. Its downrite gross. Enough said.
