'American Idol': Robbie Rosen is Season 10's first sob story
"American Idol" Season 10 is officially underway and it only took 45 minutes to get our first sob/sad story. This season's first belongs to 16-year-old Robbie Rosen from Merrick, New York, who looks remarkably like Danny Zuko from "Grease." Relevant? Not really, but still note-worthy. The teenager spent time in a wheelchair when he was five years-old, which devastated his family so much that they didn't even take pictures or video of him. Luckily, it wasn't a permanent condition and Robbie is now fine.
Robbie sang The Beatles' tune "Yesterday" and blew the judges away with his controlled and touching performance. Steven Tyler described it as "beautiful" and Jennifer Lopez told him, "I like you. I love the tone of your voice, I think you're cute." Obviously, the judges sent the boy wonder through, with J.Lo saying, "Hollywood! Bye!"

No pictures or video. Yeah, that's not suspicious.
why wouldnt you take pictures of your child, regardless of their condition? they are basically saying that there would be no pictures of their child had he not gotten better
are you kidding me? no pictures, no video? another reason why this season is a joke.
go robby!!! you sound just beautiful...and your story is very moving.
Robbie, you giant fraud! It was very upsetting to hear that your family didnt want to remember you "that way" just because you were in a wheelchair for a short time. Those of us who LOVE people who are in wheelchairs ALL THE TIME took major offense to your comment and your closed minded family.
I have to say thank you to all of the people that have said something for disabled people. I am a 24 year old woman in a wheelchair and have been the majority of my life. My parents took PLENTY of pictures of me as a child. I never understood why people feel sorry for me, but now I know why. It is because parents feel bad for their child and raise them as if they should be ashamed of their disability. My disability has given me a different perspective on my life, and I am not ashamed of that. I am not someone that is easily offended and I can overlook or laugh at various jokes. I personally felt like this was a huge slap in the face. Until people realize that everyone is born differently and that it is okay, there will continue to be close mindedness and ignorance.
Melissa, I hope I can raise my daughter to be as confident and self assured as you! Someone needs to give the Rosen family a few sensitivity lessons!
Idiots there is a pic of him in a wheel chair in the montage they probably had the say it to add to the "drama" for the show. -__- look closer at the actually video. The kid clearly has a lot of talent.
robbie your did amazing! im so proud of you and cant get over my best friend made it to hollywood! good luck buddy see you in school:)
Actually, I looked closely at the montage, and he was never in a wheelchair. It only showed him sitting on the stairs and on someone's lap.
