TV ratings: 'Grey's Anatomy' is No. 1 on a soft Thursday
Fast National ratings for Thursday, Dec. 3, 2010A lineup of reruns on CBS managed to win Thursday night in total viewers, but ABC had the most-watched show in "Grey's Anatomy" (even though it was down from its most recent new episode) and led the night in adults 18-49.
Overall, though, it was a pretty soft night for the networks. CBS averaged 9.1 million viewers and a 5.8 rating/10 share in primetime to finish a little ahead of ABC (8.8 million, 5.5/9) in the overall race. FOX took third with 7 million viewers and a 4.3/7. NBC (5.1 million, 3.1/5) finished fourth. The CW drew 3.2 million viewers and a 1.9/3, although an NFL pre-emption in the Houston area may bring those numbers down slightly in the final nationals.
ABC easily won the adults 18-49 demo with a 3.1 rating. NBC took second with a 2.2, beating out FOX's 2.1 and CBS' 1.9. The CW came in at 1.3.

Bones won the 8oclock slot. That's somewhat surprising. There was a primetime football game on last night on NFL network which hurt some numbers. Wonder if NFL network beat everyone out?
Interesting to note that "Bones" has recaptured the 8PM hour. I haven't watched "Bones" this season, although it was one of my favorites, because I enjoy "Big Bang" more. Hoping the networks will move one or the other. "Bang" was great last night. Shamie is the couple of the year.
PP was fantastic as usual this season. I'm liking it more than GA! Just read an amazing article in TV GUIDE about NBC primetime issues. Check it out in the latest edition.
cont.... One of the most interesting portions of the article was about how well NBC owned Cable stations (and others) are doing compared to NBC primetime. Would a show like Dexter or Walking Dead (with obvious changes) do ok on NBC? I read in EW that Walking Dead was turned down by NBC. Can't say I predicted that would be a runaway hit. I thought Event would hit. Lets see about The Cape. At least NBC has been showing some effort this season.
I was watching Greys and Private Practice. There was finally something on that wasn't a RERUN.
CBS had pretty impressive numbers for reruns on a "soft" night.
what is wrong with americans that they dont watch 30 rock?
Fred, didn't NBC try airing some USA shows back when and most of them actually did worse than some of the current network's programming? I remember seeing that somewhere. NBC still sucks.
do you take into the people who record and watch 2 shows the next nite while recording 2 more and so on i never miss anything
NFL or no NFL, holiday season or not, a 4.0 demo rating for Grey's Anatomy or any other show is something special.
