'The Amazing Race': 'Sancho Panza's master' helps Nat and Kat make history

nat-kat-amazing-race.jpgDoctors Nat and Kat are your "Amazing Race" Season 17 winners. They bested second place team Brook and Claire and third place team Thomas and Jill. Nat and Kat are the first all-female team to win "TAR" and nearly 50% of Zap2it voters picked them.

At the start of the last leg, the pairs left within roughly 30 minutes of each other, so it really was anybody's game going into the final stretch. They flew to Los Angeles, more specifically the pier at Long Beach.

There they had to ride a bungee swing in order to get the next clue. It was awesome, like bungee jumping but not quite as scary. During the bungee swing, Nat said, "I didn't even pee my pants." We're sad that wasn't the episode title.

Following the bungee swing the teams had a road black where they had to help decorate a Tournament of Roses Parade float. Thomas, the last man standing, struggled a bit with the road block. Brook and Nat were both a lot more comfortable with the challenge, but all three teams still finished fairly quickly.

The next clue forced them to figure out clues, including who Sancho Panza's master was. Don Quixote is the answer and it was directing them to Quixote Studios where they had to play a game show-like challenge. The challenge was to pick out the 11 greeters from each pit stop (from a grid of 48) and then put them in order.

Nat and Kat got to the challenge first, having used their cabbie's phone to help solve the clues. Brook and Claire were hot on their heels after using some hotel internet. Thomas and Jill? Just got angry and frustrated and Thomas was a bit of a jerk about their cab driver.

The good doctors got through the greeters challenge and took off for the finish line. The editing would've had you believe Nat and Kat were in danger because of stopped traffic, but we have a feeling it wasn't as close as that.

How do you feel about Nat and Kat winning? And better yet, how do you feel about "Unfinished Business" for Season 18?

Not happy at all! Like 2 Doctors need to be in the race anyways.

I think it's great the doc's won. They ran a terrific, positive race and deserved the win. I can't believe no one knew who Sancho Panza is. I've never read Cervantes or seen "Man of La Mancha" but I know who Sancho Panza is. So much for that great Notre Dame education Thomas keeps bragging about.

SOOO HAPPY for themm!!! i was rooting for them since the begging and for Broke and claire too..but so happy with the Result!!! :)

Girl Power! I was rooting for Nat and Kat the entire raced. A pair of very classy ladies.

I am thrilled that Nat and Kat won! They were grace under pressure, treated each other and all the teams with respect and had a great attitude. As to why two doctors should be in the race; why not, they worked hard and deserve a chance like this as much as anyone! Finally, an all-female team for the win!

Who cares what their profession is? It's about who ran the best race. So only poor people should win or be on the show?

I never understand that argument on reality shows that people should win because they need it more.

no, not happy at all. I'm glad that finally two females won, but I never really bonded with this team and I agree with the previous poster. "like two doctors need to be in the race anyway?". They always seemed aloof from the rest of the team members, and I honestly would have preferred for some other teams to win.

What does it matter that they're doctors? This isn't "Queen for a Day" Besides they're probably still paying off thousands of dollars in student loans so this will help.

Gotta love that one comment, "We had less of a language barrier every where else in the world than we are having in L.A."

The rest of the world speaks and understands English better than taxi drivers in the USA. What does that say about our nation?

I was happy to see the two all-female teams finish at the top. Throughout the race both of these teams overcame all obstacles and raced with intelligence, perseverance, and respect for their fellow competitors and the people and cultures they interacted with along the way (as opposed to the ill-tempered, self-centered, egomaniacal types who shall go nameless). I too am surprised that no one knew Sancho Panza! But then again, they all are products of the American educational system, so perhaps it should not come as such a surprise. Anyway, as always the Amazing Race is truly a wonderful show and shows that reality TV does not have to be the dreck we are usually presented with. Can't wait for next season and the all-star event!!
