'Terriers' canceled: FX puts down quirky drama
Every dog may have its day, but "Terriers" will probably have to wait till it gets to doggy heaven. The critically beloved but low-rated FX series will not be renewed for a second season, it was announced Monday, Dec. 6.
In its season finale, "Terriers" only averaged 784,000 viewers and had a 0.3 rating in adults 18-49, according to Zap2it partner TV by the Numbers.
The show centers on Hank Dolworth (Donal Logue), a recovering alcoholic and former cop who partners with his BFF, former criminal Britt Pollack (Michael Raymond-James) for their makeshift private investigation business.
FX President and General Manager John Landgraf will talk to reporters later in the day to provide more details on the network's decision to cancel the show.

FOX is STUPID. Give the show ''Terriers'' a CHANCE. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. What are you thinking. It is not on at the best time slot. But, give it a chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You just made my Monday that much worse!!!! I loved this show, it had great stories... will miss it next season, I think this is a huge mistake by the network; and they never gave Hank nor Brit a chance. A great show that will be missed, I guess this means they turned left and went to Mexico!
Well, that ruined my day.
This is gonna ruin everyone's day. It's not on the best time slot, Give it a chance. FOX !!!
It ruined mine, as well. It was such a rare gem of a show. Perfect cast, intriguing storylines, great writing and acting. Oh, to be one of the mindless masses who can still enjoy Desperate Housewives.
I wonder if there's a chance one of the other cable networks would pick it up?
This was one of the best shows of the year. Boo.
Maybe a smarter network will swoop it up, put it in a better timeslot and market it better. Wishful thinking, I know.
I think Fox has a hate-on for Tim Minear. I used to think they just hated Joss Whedon, but now?
Then again, maybe they just hate quality programming.
Sad.
Truly sad. The work Donal Logue did in the episode where they flasshed back on the rape case was Emmy worthy.
