'Survivor: Nicaragua's' Dan Lembo: 'Sash would never be a friend of mine'

Dan Lembo had some pretty harsh words for his fellow contestants Sunday night (Dec. 19) on the "Survivor: Nicaragua" finale. He tells Zap2it how he feels about Chase and Sash and that he is wearing Holly's cowboy boots with nothing else on. We think he's kidding.


You had some pretty harsh words for Sash and Chase during the last few days of the show -- Chase was surprised by them, but Sash was not. Was that more heat-of-the-moment or do you still feel that way about them?

"Nah, I'm not angry with them any longer. The game's over. Sash would never be a friend of mine, but Chase, as I said, dumb is forever. The guy's pretty dumb, but he's a nice a guy."


If Fabio had not made the finals, who would have gotten your vote?

"Probably Holly. Why not? I don't like Sash and I happen to like Holly, even though she did what she did to my shoes. I happen to like her."


Were you surprised to make it as far as you did, one of the older tribe with two bum knees?

"Am I surprised? I don't know if surprised is the right word. As as I said before, I'm somewhat of a people's people and a lot of that game is dealing with people. Obviously it's not all physical, otherwise I wouldn't have been there as long as I was. So I'm not that surprised."


Have you tried on Holly's cowboy boots yet?

"I would look pretty silly wearing what I'm wearing right now, which is nothing, and cowboy boots. I think very highly of myself and I don't think even I want to see that picture [laughs]."


What do you think of the new "Redemption Island" twist?

"I thought it was really interesting, really interesting. It's like you get tortured twice. It gives somebody a second chance. But I think Jeff also said something last night about quitters, which I had said when we were on the show. I don't think NaOnka and Kelly Purple should've been part of the jury. Or maybe brought back two other people, but they shouldn't have been there."


Are you going to stay in touch with any fellow contestants? Holly says she'll stay in touch with a lot of the cast.

"Yeah, Benry. Someway, somehow I'll stay in touch with Holly. We'll have to text because I have no intention of going to South Dakota [laughs]."


Any final thoughts/messages to your fans?

"It was a great time. Met a lot of nice people. You get to find out a little more about yourself. I never would've thought when I signed up for the show well, I didn't sign up, they came after me. I was in a bar and they approached me and asked me if I wanted to be on the show 'Survivor.' And that's what happened. I had no idea what it was going to be, but I can tell you now that it's done, it was a great experience. I would do it again."
