'Survivor: Nicaragua': Jane, Dan and Fabio are whiners; Jeff Probst more manipulative than ever
After Benry's blindside, Fabio is a little concerned about not knowing what is going on. Rightly so, as Sash talking-heads that Fabio is next if he doesn't win Immunity. Sash is possibly getting the Hubris Edit, because he thinks he's in complete control of the game. And maybe he is. Or maybe I'll be interviewing him tomorrow morning.Reward Challenge
They jump right into the reward with a Sprint phone that has videos of their families on it. This product placement is annoying but it seems pretty small potatoes in the face of that "Gulliver's Travels" nonsense a few weeks ago. After seeing the videos, one question really springs to mind -- do you think he got teased a lot about his hot mom growing up?
The loved ones show up at the challenge: Chase's mom Connie, Fabio's mom Ann, Sash's mom Leigh, Dan's son Matthew, Jane's daughter Ashley and Holly's husband Charlie. I know it's absolutely absurd that it's only been roughly a month they've been away from their families (and they do this every season), but this still always makes me cry. Geez louise.
The challenge is sending the Survivors into water for letter tiles, then a puzzle that the loved ones have to solve that spells "family comes first." All teams are fairly close except Dan, who lags behind a bit. In the end, Chase's mom Connie gets the puzzle first and Chase chooses Sash becuase he hasn't been on a reward for awhile and Holly.
Fabio starts having a bit of a fit about not being chosen and almost calls Chase a naughty word; Dan calls Chase a "scumbag." Well, that's classy you two. Everybody wants to see their loved one more, nobody is more or less deserving and it's your stupid mom's fault she didn't solve the puzzle faster. No need to be all sore loser, plus you're going to see your family in a week when this is over!
Back at camp, Fabio and Dan can't stop complaining and moaning about it. Jane jumps into the fray too, talking about how he made "a million dollar decision today." Oh my god, you whiners! Seriously, get over yourselves. Not everybody could win and I guarantee you if Holly didn't get chosen, she wouldn't have gone back to camp and bad-mouthed Chase.
The reward is uneventful, but Chase knows he's got some mad people to deal with when he gets back to camp. Lo and behold, Fabio immediately starts in on Chase and he really just comes across as a whiny baby.
Immunity Challenge
The Immunity Challenge is a blindfolded rope-guide memorization debacle where you have to recreate a shield that you memorized by touch alone. It comes down to Fabio and Chase, with Fabio finishing first -- but he's not correct at first. Seconds later, he switches a piece and wins. Fabio is safe. Innnnteresting.
Pre-Tribal
Sash approaches Chase about getting Jane out, but Chase wants to keep her and oust Dan. Holly starts to work on Chase too, she knows they have to get rid of Jane whenever they can, but Chase wants to keep her until the Final Four.
Jane wanders up and they actually tell her it's probably her. Are you kidding?! Jane is naturally upset, but she has to realize how big of a threat she is for the money, right? Man, I do not agree with telling her because now they have to deal with her anger until Tribal Council. Blindside her and then she just has to leave. She then invokes the gross reality show attitude of "Sash's mama raised a liar" and "I'm proud of the way I played." Spare me. You're on a damn reality show, let's not act like it's World War II. Jane then has a big tantrum and puts out the campfire. What are you, nine years old?
Tribal Council
Jane gets called out on her tantrum and she goes a bit nutty about her possible ouster. She calls out Holly on stealing somebody's shoes? $1400 worth of shoes? Jane is coming across as a complete nutbag.
Chase then confirms with Sash and Holly that the next two to go are Fabio and Dan. I agree with Jeff -- "ballsy." So Jeff stirs up Dan, Fabio and Jane to align together. Jane tosses out Holly's name because the other two guys have an Idol and tonight is the last night to play it. Wow, that is more manipulative than I think we've ever seen Jeff Probst act. (I did love the impression of his mom he did, though).
If Chase or Sash has half a brain, one of them would give Holly his Idol. The other three haven't had time to agree on anybody but Holly.
The Vote
We don't see any votes. Chase and Sash play their Idols for themselves, which is so dumb. Give one to Holly, you idiots! The votes go Jane, Jane, Jane and Jane. Interesting. I thought they had a chance there to at least make a tie, but looks like Dan couldn't do it.
When we see the votes, it turns out both Fabio and Dan voted Jane. Huh. They had such a good opportunity to at least try to do something and they didn't. That's weak.
Next week: It's the finale and it's on Sunday night (Dec. 19), so don't forget!
Questions for Jane? Leave 'em in the comments.

Why did she vote for Sash???? At least if she voted Holly she had a chance of lining up votes with Dan and Fabio. But voting Sash she screws herself either way, because it'd be a 2-1-3 split, best case scenario.
I can now see Janes true side,,,she is a sore lose, it is just a game Jane, and you got outplayed, outlasted, and OUTWITTED...by a Redneck...Live on Chase...
She needs to grow UP. It is a game for a million dollars an she can beat them all. She annoyed me so much this episode and she has no right to get high and mighty on any of them. What a sore loser
I agree - the whole time I was totally surprised by Jane's poor attitude. All three of them were acting like babies back at camp, while the others were at reward; they couldn't all go!
And I was shocked by the way Jane acted. And mildly annoyed that she has to bring North Carolina into this. I'm a North Carolinian, thank you, and would be more annoyed by seeing her walking down the street than Chase. It's a game - everyone can't win. That's the point. And putting out the fire? How childish!
I don't think Jeff Probst is manipulative...He's just good host... and he's got the Emmys to prove it.
Glad Jane's gone...sore loser and scary redneck.
The shoe reference was way back to when Holly went nuts and took Dan's $1600 shoes, filled them with sand, and put them in the river. "Ballsy" is the last word I'd use to describe Chase. He and the other 2 were backed in to a corner at Tribal. He was confused as he said and the jury appeared to agree with that assessment.
Jane, Fabio, and Dan were whiny at times. But was Jane supposed to be happy finding out her alliance was dumping her? Dan has done nothing and performed miserably at all the challenges. How he believes he deserves to go on any reward is beyond me. Fabio is young and emotional. His mom handled it really well and gave him a good pep talk. That being said, he has not been on a reward for a long time either after Sash. Chase has been on the last few and usually taken Holly and Jane with him. Chase owed it to Sash after leaving him last week. Holly's hubby did not look happy either before Chase chose them to go along also. I remember last season with Rupert and Russell being upset at Jeri for not taking them and their wives on the reward.
Fabio and Dan voting for Holly would have been useless since Jane herself actually voted for Sash.
Fabio gets a pass- he was pissed that Chase lied directly to his face and promised he'd take him if he won the reward. Chase is definitely a douchebag and for someone who isn't really getting a villain-edit, has lied a whole hell of a lot this season.
Jane voted Sash because she must've thought Sash was going to give his idol to Holly.
Dan and Fabio didn't vote alongside Jane because if they made it to the final 3 with her they'd lose anyway. Might as well try to exploit a crack in the alliance of 3/or win immunity and make it to the end that way and actually have a shot with the jury.
TONITE JUST SHOWS YOU THERE ARE NO NO BRAINS IN THIS GROUP IAM NOT EVEN GOING TO WATCH THE REST OF THIS YEAR THEY ALL SHOULD LOSE FOR BEING STUPID
So you have a strong four person alliance that's taken you to within 4 days of the end of the game who then decide to oust you and you're supposed to be ok with it? I'm totally fine with what Jane did. Sure she was a huge threat to win the game, but if you had won so many immunity challenges and positioned yourself the way she did, I doubt anyone would just say "ok, it's just a game, go ahead and vote me out." And her putting out the fire (that she started) was the best part of the night. How pleasant is she supposed to be after losing a million bucks?
As far as the others go, the only person I would be happy to see win would be Holly - yes the same crazy Holly that filled Dan's shoes with wet sand and threw them in the ocean. Dan has been basically useless the whole time out there - couldn't even jump into a pool to score a basket in that one challenge - and he's only still there since he'll be easily beaten. Chase has had bad gameplay the whole time - trusting Brenda too much, making bad strategic moves in picking reward partners both this week and last week, etc. Sash thinks he's better at this game than he is - falling into alliances when his previous ones fell apart, and just having poor gameplay - blackmailing Marty into giving him an idol shouldn't equate into a Survivor win. And Fabio, well he's been out of the loop on most decisions, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in the final 3.
If I had to pick, I'll see Holly, Chase, Fabio in the finals with Holly taking the crown.
I truly hope nobody pays you for your articles. This has to be the poorest article, I have ever read on the subject of Survivor. I read about 25 per week. I also listen to the interviews, and Andrea, you are a terrible interviewer also. But this article is just a joke.
