MTV's '16 and Pregnant' abortion special courts controversy, naturally

MTV's new addition to the "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" franchise, the abortion-themed special "No Easy Decision," has not actually aired yet. But that hasn't stopped it from raising a predictable stir.

Pro-life groups are up in arms with "16 and Pregnant" alum Markai Durham's decision to terminate her pregnancy -- and MTV's choice to air her experience with the procedure.

The New York Post reports that Durham has been forbidden to give interviews about the episode before it airs -- and only a handful have screened it -- but she is already addressing it on Facebook.

"I get sad from time to time thinking about it but then everything happens for a reason," Durham writes. "God gave me 3 paths to take abortion, adoption, or raising this baby along with another... I chose this path and I think about how stressing things would have been if I haven't made the one I've made."

MTV's assurance to show both sides of the issue has not dissuaded pro-life advocates from criticizing the network, pointing out that the official website only links pro-choice resources.

Regardless of where you fall on the subject, it's a matter MTV has chosen to address later in the evening. "No Easy Decision" airs Dec. 28, at the particularly late hour of 11:30 p.m. ET. Will you be watching?

Any men who are against abortions need to be slapped. we carry the freaking kid, you sit around and watch, so keep your laws off my body.

Try interviewing women twenty years later when they regret the abortion. Why no adoption?

Remember when MTV just showed music videos? You know they knew this special would cause a stink, that's why they are running it. It's just to draw attention to their network that doesn't show music videos anymore.

I will be watching. If you guys seen the thing she got pregnant by you would want an abortion too.

This woman has lost any and all capacity to condemn Slavery,Racial Discrimination or any other form of human exploitation. So does any other hypocrite who calls themselves "pro-choice"....

This is outrageous. I've just seen the episode, and it is totally biased in favor of abortion. They presented three women, none of whom regretted their decision to get an abortion. Where is the balance in that? There are many women who are desolate and/or physically impaired after choosing abortion. This program lost all pretension to journalistic integrity when it neglected to include such a women in its presentation.

It made me sick the way this woman and her mate kept saying they had done "what was best" for their already born first child. Why didn't they think of that before they indulged in unprotected sex? It was no one else's responsibnility but their own to make sure that they were using a reliable birth control method. The woman's getting mad at herself after the fact for not having educated herself on this matter is too little, too late, and her innocent baby paid the price. "Gentle suction" as an abortion method is a joke. How gentle can it be, since it results in the baby being extracted IN PIECES from its mother's womb?! There is no way to kill a baby without causing it pain and suffering, and that is the basis of my vehement protests against it.

I commend the "16 and Pregnant" series for its efforts to prevent teenage pregnancy. But this installment is dishonest and cruel, both to women and their off-spring.

This is the sickest thing I have seen! I love watching 16 and pregnant and teen mom but after mtv aired theis show promoting murder i will Not watch anything on mtv again! These three sluts murdered there kids when there is millions of people tht would do anything for a child. They kept stating they were proud they killed these innocent babies and that is sick!! For Marky or whatever her name is to give birth to the first child but murder the second is sick! I hope you three muderers find GOD fast because MURDER is a sin and you are no better than any other baby killers.

i only watch this show when it happens to be on and nothing else better is on at the same time.

i've always thought that there would be teens who would watch this show and think - how cool if i get pregnant then i could be on this show. and evidently that is the case in some situations.

but i'm glad that for once mtv is sharing an alternate choice to having the baby.

to be fair, i didn't see the episode. but even if i had, it wouldn't change my position.

having a child or not is a personal decision that is that individual's decision alone. they have to live with that decision.

now, being cavalier about it, and allowing yourself to become pregnant repeatedly. is blantant irresponsibility. and quite frankly, do you want people that irresponsible to have children anyways?

if anything i wish mtv would provide a little more education on preventing pregnancies not what your options are if you do become pregnant. because i still feel the show still glorifies teen pregnancy. how about a show that glorifies teens who don't get pregnant instead?

Not all women regret their abortions sure some do just as some women regret adoptions and births alike. I think this show was unbiased in their portrayal of Markai's choice to have an abortion. They show adoption and parenting on 16 and Pregnant so it is only fair to portray the other alternative. In the end it's her body and her decision, if you don't like it then choose not to have one. Obviously she should have been more careful in regards to birth control but to err is human. No one is perfect and what is right for some people is not right for everyone but only God can judge so if this sickens you then don't watch it and don't read about it. To cast judgement on all three women as "sluts" is harsh and I guarantee that you do not lead a perfect life following the bible to the letter because if you did you wouldn't be judging others. Markai made the choice that she thought was right for her and her family end of story.

good, what about over population!!!!
NOT TO MENTION ALOT OF THESE BABIES ARE SICK AND NO INSURANCE...WHAT KIND OF LIFE IS THAT THESE WOMEN SHOULD AWARDED
UNLESS YOU WANTED TO TAKE ALL THESE BABIES IN YOUR HOUSE
YOU SHOULD SHUT YOUR MOUTH
