'Hell's Kitchen' finale: Russell or Nona FTW? Vote!

hells-kitchen-s8-finalists.jpgWe still miss Jillian's Bart Simpson voice, but "Hell's Kitchen" wasn't ready to eat her shorts.

In the Season 8 finale on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 9 p.m. ET, we'll instead see a showdown between Russell Kook and Nona Silvey.

The final challenge follows the same pattern as previous seasons: A few contestants return to plague/help dinner service, a five-course menu made by each of the finalists.

The two will be competing to become the head chef at LA Market at the JW Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE and could be the official spokesperson (if they can get the words out past all the drunken slurring) for Rosemount Estate Wines.

Let's take a look at the two culinary combatants:

Russell, 29 - He's wildly inconsistent -- sometimes impressing Chef Ramsay with his execution (like in the amuse bouche challenge) and leadership , but other times having problems cooking his proteins. He's had the honor of being tossed out of the kitchen and he's shown attitude (sometime scarily so) towards his fellow contestants and even innocent bystanders like the prom committee. He did notice the pecans on the salad subbed in place of walnuts, so points for that service.

Nona, 29
- She's had three wins and has had personal victories as well, including identifying more ingredients correctly in one of Chef Ramsay's dishes. She could not, however, tell the difference between mashed celery root and mashed potatoes, which screwed up her service. She's been argumentative enough in the past that Ramsay booted her from the kitchen, but she's had some good relationships with the other contestants. Despite her lack of fine dining knowledge, she seems to have natural ability.

So happy to see others voting for Nona, I am really cheering for her this week! She has been my favorite this season. I feel she has been the underdog but has perservered and made vast improvements. Russell does not have the diplomacy to run a restaurant and be a spokesperson for the winery, IMHO. I really thought Chef Ramsay was going to pick Jillian he seemed to favor her but she definitely lacked the maturity to run a kitchen, again IMHO. GO NONA!!!!

Russell certainly DOESN'T deserve this chance, he's a crass, rude bully who, while having exceptional skills has no social grace. would never eat at that restaurant or drink that wine while he has any involvement with it.
(should be Nona against Jillian IMHO)

Nona's been my favorite since the beginning. I'm 99% sure Ramsay would not let Russell taint his name. Thus, Nona's got this.

Where is the option for neither?

i think russell would be the better head chef because of skill, but ramsey will probably be concerned about his arrogance and thus give it to nona who i don't see as a leader.

Neither...

Neither should win. Russell should have been kicked off long ago for threatening violence against fellow contestants. The wrong people were allowed to remain, in part, because they sabotaged the work of others.

Way to go Nona, I picked her to win from the start. Russell on the other hand, was hands down the "biggest loser" (great show too) and showed absolutely no class at all when he lost. He picked his team and the fault may or may not have been theirs. Remember, Nona had Boris to contend with and he showed as much skills in the kitchen as a ravinous dog would. Russell decided to try and send 2 tables out at once and the food was sent back, rookie mistake. Has he never seen the show before? Why try to do something special when everything was on the line? What a dumb-***. I agree Russell should've been let go for threatening other contestants. There is competitive and then there is bullying.

Just to add one more thing...
If the producers of this show ever read these comments, a better way of ensuring that there would be little to no sabotage by the other chefs, how about they pick who they want to help win the competition? They all say they are professionals and will do the work but Vinnie (just an example) clearly was not putting 100% in it for Russell.
Maybe have 3 per team that want to see the one they pick wins and have the finalists pick from whom ever is left to fill out the brigade. Just a thought.

Russell deserves a beating. His mother probably didn't teach his spoiled *** any manners.
