'Glee': Would you watch the show with a new cast?

glee-cast-turnover-320.jpg"Glee" has so far been very good at not specifying whether its characters are high school sophomores, juniors or seniors. But it can't avoid the issue forever -- in fact, co-creator Ryan Murphy is already looking ahead to graduation.

"I think you have to be true to the fact that here is a group of people who come and go in these teachers' lives," Murphy says in an interview with Australia's Herald Sun newspaper. "They graduate and they're gone."

Murphy says he's looking at the end of Season 3 in 2012 for at least some of the show's characters -- including, probably, Finn (Cory Monteith), Rachel (Lea Michele) and Quinn (Dianna Agron). "Every year we're going to populate a new group," he says in the interview. "There's nothing more depressing than a high schooler with a bald spot."

That means that, come Season 4 of the show, New Directions could have completely turned over its membership -- which is what happens in any real high school, but can be a difficult thing to pull off on a TV series.

We're curious to know what you think: Would you still watch "Glee" with a new group of students? Vote in the poll below and share your thoughts in the comments.

Why wouldn't we watch it? It's a high school; kids are supposed to graduate and move on. If they introduce new freshmen each year, it won't be like everyone is leaving all of a sudden.

Think of it like Law & Order -- a revolving-door show. Keep the teachers around, maybe keep one or two students around (Puck has to repeat a grade, Brittany becomes a student teacher there, etc.).

The best way they could tackle this is by doing what 'Skins' does: swap out the cast every two seasons.

The Degrassi franchise up in Canada has survived multiple graduations of its cast members. If Glee is more about the school and the music than specific characters (at least as far as the students are concerned) then it should be OK. If not, they might want to start thinking about making it into "Glee: The College Years" after 2012.

If the change isn't drastic it may be a good thing?

One sure way to kill the show is to lose Lea Michelle, Cory Monteith and others - there's so many obvious ways to keep them in the cast AND have them graduate high school. To get rid of them just to keep the show "realistic" shows a lack of imagination by both the creators and the writers.

When I start a show I keep watching until it gets canceled. That why I've suffered through the last 4 seasons of CSI Miami. I'll watch Glee until it goes away. Just how I am.

I'd absolutely keep watching it. While I love the characters we currently have, they're not the sole reason - or even the main reason - I'm watching the show. I love the humour, the dialogue, the plot, and I'd love to see new kids going through their own trials and tribulations, especially if they kept the teachers around.

Degrassi: TNG is an excellent example--exactly the show I was thinking of while reading this article. I would also add that new younger kids should be slowly introduced over time--which is generally how Degrassi has done it. Glee has not really explored this yet, with the exception of the new blond guy (sorry, his name escapes me) and an expanded part for Mike Chang. My idea: they should have auditions at the end of this year, and actively work in a few new younger kids who would be regulars next year.

I love the show And I think all of the characters are interchangeable except for Finn and Rachel. If they kept them I think it would be better. Finn could be an assistant football coach and Rachel could come back as a teacher. Both could help with glee club from there

There is NO WAY this show goes on without Lea Michele and Cory Monteith
