'Glee': Could Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews reunite at McKinley High?
We know, "Glee" fans... you're getting kind of tired of the big-name guest stars taking screen time away from the more underused New Directions kids, like Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) and Mercedes (Amber Riley). Despite your pleas, however, those big-name stars continue to campaign for roles on the show. Anne Hathaway, who is set to host this year's Oscars alongside James Franco, is so enthusiastic about getting a gig on "Glee" that she's already plotted out her role.
"In my head, I've cast myself in 'Glee' and I know what song I'm going to sing," the actress told Jimmy Fallon when she stopped by his show in December. "I would wanna play Kurt's long-lost aunt... who is also gay, who comes back to help him deal with his sexuality, and I would sing 'You Are Not Alone' from Stephen Sondheim's epic show 'Into the Woods.'"
Rumors are surfacing that Hathaway may actually be in negotiations to do an episode, though it's unknown if she'll get to choose her own musical numbers.
Meanwhile, musical legend Julie Andrews is also reportedly working out a deal to be on the show. Andrews, who starred in "The Sound of Music" and "Mary Poppins," is arguably the most well-loved musical actress of her generation.
When Zap2it caught up with Chris Colfer at the GLAAD Awards in April, he told us, "I really want Julie Andrews to play Kurt's fashionable grandmother. That's what I want."
Could he get his wish? Andrews and Hathaway starred together in "The Princess Diaries" series that launched Hathaway's career, so while we at Zap2it happen to be on the less-guest-stars-more-old-friends side of the fence, we certainly wouldn't mind a little nod to the adorable Disney franchise.
That said, of course, it's important to take all of these rumors with a rather substantial grain of salt. Everyone and their mother has been rumored to be cast on "Glee" lately. We're just looking forward to the highly anticipated post-Superbowl episode. We'll leave the casting to the experts.

While I agree strongly that there is some intentional negligence of of our "other" favorite Glee members, NO ONE can argue or really even say they wouldn't want a great guest star appearance from these 2 ladies. Murphy needs to work on keeping the celeb parade to a minimum, only including the essential brilliant exceptions. My fingers are crossed for this.
Amber Riley was heavily featured in the first season, I wonder what happened? Even Lea Michelle, who is one of the few on this show that can sing and act and is arguably the main character has not gotten a lot of screen time. Its been all Kurt and Britanny. I could always use a little more Birtanny but the Kurt thing is old now.
We still know next to nothing about Santana, but by all means bring in some more guest stars to take up valuable storyline time. Quinn, Mercedes, and Puck are still on the show right? It's hard to tell these days. The show seems to have no clear direction this season and I am getting fed up.
The song is called "No One Is Alone" from Into the Woods. Kind of blows her argument out of the water....
That sad, not a bad choice, and anyone pushing for Sondheim on Glee is cool in my book.
Seriously, there haven't been THAT many guest stars compared to other shows like 'Chuck', 'HIMYM', and '30 Rock'. People are always just looking for something to complain about when it comes to 'Glee'.
The fact that stars are asking to be on "Glee" instead of the other way around says alot.
It isn't they guest stars it is the guest that take away from the main characters. Kurt already has a new mentor, his dad, a bully etc. The other cast have had no real storyline. Rachel has been delegated to Finn girl friend. My god a 2 time golden globe and emmy nominee and she is there to hold hands with Finn who is there to praise Kurt. Even Jane Lynch is used less and Matt Morrison. We don't need more people to help Kurt he has more support than anyone on the show.
Carol Burnett was misused. Last season they rushed through Idina Menzel. Kristin Chenowith second episode was bad. I will take these two talented ladies if they fit but please have them do something other then Kurt.
What happened to the writers, write a part than they think who would best fit that part? Yeah more BS from Ryan Murphy and company. The need to go back to a underlying story arc for the lead, Will, Rachel and Finn. Then have the other characters get their storyline every 5 or 6 episodes. It works for the first season now really Kurt is the only one with a real story arc. And that arc is getting tiring. Who cares about Dalton, that show is suppose to be about New Directions.
@Jeff
Will's storyarc is to find himself after hitting rock bottom.
Rachel and Finn's storyarc are figuring out if they're supposed to be together.
There you have it.
