'Desperate Housewives': Brian Austin Green jokes, 'It's nice to be on a show people watch'

Brian Austin Green hadn't even met Marcia Cross, who he would be carrying on a passionate on-screen love affair with, until after he was booked on "Desperate Housewives."

"We didn't test at all," Green tells Zap2it. "I had never met her until I had booked the show. I got really lucky. I have to assume, because [creator Marc Cherry] knows Marcia as well as he does that in meeting me, he had some sense of what would work best with her."

And Green says the two get on pretty fantastically. "We enjoy really being around each other," he says. "We laugh and we talk. It's a really great relationship to have on the set. It was a complete coincidence. It's absolute luck, because it doesn't happen all the time."

Green is definitely feeling pretty lucky these days. After a decade long stint on the original "Beverly Hills, 90210" and most recently two short seasons on FOX's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," the actor is feeling good about his guest stint on Wisteria Lane.

"It's a tough thing for me to say after 'Sarah Connor,'" he says. "'Desperate Housewives' is a great place to be. The crew's fantastic, the cast is amazing. Everyone loves what they're doing. It's an amazing experience. It's nice to be on a show people watch! So, it's a win-win all around."

His character, Keith, will soon be hitting some choppy waters, though, when Bree's last ex-husband, Orson (played by Kyle MacLachlan), returns and Keith's ex-girlfriend tracks him down. Those are just a couple more challenges to hit the May-December romance, which fans know shouldn't work.

"The thing that people are really enjoying about the Bree and Keith relationship is that it's the two that shouldn't work," he says. "But there's something passionate and fun about them. Neither one wants to give up and let go. But at the same time, we both know it's just the wonkiest relationship in the world. They couldn't be more different."

And what about his loyal "90210" fans? Are they enjoying his new role? "All I know now is that when I go to the normal places I go, whether it's a coffee shop or a restaurant," he tells us. "Anyone who knows me from '90210,' they watch 'Desperate Housewives,' as well. So, they seem to be in the same viewing audience. Everybody so far seems to like it. It's always nice to have a good response."

keiths'father is a jerk see why the mother wants a divorce. Bree shouldn't have invited him on dates. Note to writers who says"that was forever ago"? Zach, mikes son is my pick for who shot paul but I could be wrong. Gabby now that she was hurt, pay attention to your real daughter. Remember the 1st season. Beths' aunt started everything with paul young.

Funny thing to point out, although they never acted together before, Marcia Cross starred on MELROSE PLACE, which was spin-off of BEV HILLS 90210, and some stars of 90210 including Brian, appeared on MP to help kick it off. They never crossed paths tho.

BAG has aged beautifully. I found him forgetably average looking on 90210. He's a fox now.

Yeah, Brian gets better looking the older he gets. Being an adult suits him. He's also a pretty decent actor. I loved him on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

I just keep picturing the musical David Silver hooking up with crazy Kimberly Shaw. Anyone who gets this reference should give themselves a hug.

He needs to lay off the botox.

Has everyone forgotten that Brian was first introduced to viewers as Abby's son, also named Brian, on Knots Landing. He was on the show for three seasons, from 1986-1989. When Abby was written off the show, I always remember him in the car with her, as the were driving away, and she was singing 'Don't worry, be happy'.

*hug* (Andy) & yeah he was fantastic on Terminator TSCC.

yes,I remember when he was on knots landing, I thought no else did.
