'Defenders' moves to Friday, 'Criminal Minds' twofer on CBS' midseason schedule

forest-whitaker-criminal-minds.jpgCBS has set its midseason schedule, and since the network is pretty healthy this season it's more about tweaks than a radical makeover.

The Eye will debut three new scripted shows and Paula Abdul's competition series "Live to Dance" in the first few months of 2011. It's also moving a couple of its current shows around, giving "Blue Bloods" a four-week tryout on Wednesday nights and sending "The Defenders" to Fridays to fill the spot being vacated by "Medium."

The new scripted shows are "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior," a spinoff of "Criminal Minds" that will air after its parent show on Wednesday nights; comedy "Mad Love," which slides into the post-"How I Met Your Mother" slot on Mondays in late February; and "Chaos," a drama about CIA officers that will debut on Fridays in April. "Live to Dance" premieres Tuesday, Jan. 4, the moves to Wednesdays the following night, holding down the fort between "Survivor" seasons.

"Blue Bloods" will air at 10 p.m. ET Wednesdays for four weeks starting Jan. 19, then return to its Friday home on Feb. 11. "Suspect Behavior" takes over the Wednesday spot on Feb. 16. "Mad Love" is set to debut Feb. 21, which will send "Rules of Engagement" to Thursdays after "The Big Bang Theory" on Feb. 24. ("$#*! My Dad Says" will have ended its slightly abbreviated season by then.)

Here's how the new lineup breaks down (there's no change on Tuesday and Sunday nights):

8:30 p.m. "Rules of Engagement" (through Feb. 14)/"Mad Love" (premieres Feb. 21)

What about CBS Sunday night schedule?

Shirley,

The ones that are not up, means they will REMAIN THE SAME.

Can someone answer this for me (since I don't watch the show) -- content-wise, can The Defenders switch from a 10pm timeslot to a family-hour 8pm timeslot? Just curious.

It sure can since it's practically a cartoon.

Do we get the feeling that the Defenders (a terrific Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid vibe) is not a CBS favourite with the reruns, pre-empts, and now moving to another night and time slot?

love the defenders
