'Dancing With the Stars': Oprah makes sure OWN personality Fergie isn't on board
Soon after the Jan. 1 launch of the Oprah Winfrey Network, Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson (the original Fergie) will introduce her six-part reality miniseries, "Finding Sarah." But before Oprah Winfrey formally invited her friend to join the OWN family, she had to make one thing clear.
"I remember the last thing I said to her when I left that interview," Winfrey tells Parade Magazine. "Don't let me see you on 'Dancing with the Stars.'"
Clearly, she's not the biggest fan. Or she just has other ideas of how Ferguson should rehabilitate her long-damaged public image.
"She started e-mailing me and at one point asked what did I think of her doing a celebrity chef show," says Winfrey. "And I said, 'That's not going to help you. How are you going to rehabilitate yourself on a celebrity chef show? You should be working on yourself.'"
The results of her working on herself are expected to premiere sometime in Spring 2011. And, comparatively, that's just a drop in the OWN bucket. Winfrey is keeping her eyes peeled for other personalities to fill the almost limitless hours of programming her new network affords.
"The other day I was in a restaurant, [and there was] the most handsome waiter," Winfrey tells Parade. "I was like, 'Well, what are you interested in doing? You have a very good TV face.'"
We're submitting our applications to Oprah's favorite haunts right... now.

Who does she think she is?? God?? Honestly why do people put this woman on a pedestal??
The abbreviation for her television network is OWN? That's funny, because "own" is exactly what she does to the million of supporters that worship her. That, and this network will make sure she can continue to own the media as well. Also, based on her "advice" to Sara Ferguson, it seems she is trying to "own" her. OWN is a fitting name.
I firmly believe that if Oprah went on her show or network tomorrow and told everyone in her audience to drink a cup of bleach, there would be reports of millions of dead or sick women the next day. Why anyone listens to that gasbag is beyond me.
The comedian Gallagher called in right back in the 90's. He always referred to her as Opry Windbag.
i actually want to call up direct tv and tell them i do NOT want oprah's network. Oprah is just jealous she hasn't been asked to be on DWTS.
A reporter nailed it years ago for me when he said that everything Oprah does is to draw everyone into orbit around her.
A magazine that only has her pic on the cover, charities and schools that bear her name and now a tv network that has her name in it. Can a person be any more arrogant, egotistical and self centered?
She may remember where she came from but she also has no problem throwing it in everyone's face where she is now. Everything she does now screams "I'm better than you. I have more money than you. Bow before all that is Oprah Winfrey!!!"
I just wish I could get the OWN network. I am already missing Oprah. She has done so much good for so many. I feel that some or most people who don't like her, is simply due to jealousy.
She is an amazing testament to what one can do when you feel you have made you own opportunity.
you'll are just a bunch of haters. period!!
I seriously hope this network tanks bigtime. You talk about an ego-maniac here. OWN should be ONE...and out!
I hope the net tanks too. That woman is so full of herself.
