'Undercovers' cancelation: EP Josh Reims, 'I'm really proud of the show'

As the news that NBC essentially canceled "Undercovers" by not picking up its back nine episodes is breaking, co-creator and executive producer, Josh Reims, exclusively gave Zap2it his reaction to the reports.
"We were just never able to find an audience," Reims tells us. "For whatever reason, people didn't tune in in big numbers, and once that happens, it's really hard to build in a big way."
As we reported earlier, the ratings never quite lived up to the expectations for the show, which was co-created by "Lost" and "Alias" creator, J.J. Abrams. Regardless, Reims, whose producing resume includes "Felicity," "Brothers & Sisters" and "Dirty Sexy Money," stands behind the show's quality.
"I'm really proud of the show," he says. "I think it looked amazing, and I loved working with the cast and crew. We had a lot of fun. The show turned out pretty much the way I envisioned, and when it didn't, it was actually better."
While only the next three episodes have airdates so far, Reims tells us that fans will enjoy how the series wraps up its run.
"I think the episodes are getting stronger every week," he says. "And I'm sorry we have to stop at 13, because we had so many more stories to tell with these people. Not to mention we have a great mythology arc that runs from Nov. 13 and ends with a cliffhanger."

Show was sooo boring..Literally the same everyweek. J.J failed on this one..
UNDERCOVERS never really grabbed me the way other J.J.Abrams shows grabbed me. ALIAS grabbed the viewers' attention from the very start. LOST also started in a very compelling way. Even FRINGE delved into the mythology from the outset.
But UNDERCOVERS just never had that extra level of subtext. Sure, it seems to be heading in that direction, but it didn't start that way.
And while the lead characters, beautiful, smart and funny, are nice enough, they don't give us much reason to CARE about them. We all rooted for Sydney Bristow from minute one. That is missing from this show.
I'm sad to see it go, as I think it had potential, but I can't say I'm surprised.
I agree with Jmag, the show was just boring and actually quite cheesy in ways I'm sure were unintentional.
It's a shame because besides being a show with African American leads, it's also a JJ Abrams show, two things the world needs more of.
The show might have gone places had JJ stayed beyond the pilot. Sadly this days he's too busy making movies and lets his second rate buddies run his shows and you can see the effects.
Just having a cool idea is not enough this days.
I gave it a second look & started liking it, liked the restaurant stuff, but I kept comparing the spy stuff to 'Covert Affairs.' 'Undercovers' would actually fit USA better than NBC.
OMG! Guess I didn't see it coming. It was promise to be one of the biggest buzz of the Fall TV season but I'm sad to see one of my new show getting cancel 'cause it was hoping for a bigger ratings boost and it got hammered by the tired old Survivor and The Middle/Better with You combo. Think this new comedy was one of the worst new sitcom this year. Hope JJ needs another new pilot for yes, that's right NBC!
I'm sad I like the show but my question is why is Undercovers being canceled when it gets better rating then Chuck?
Where does NBC get the balls to cancel this and keep Chuck? Sad to see it go. I guess you can't have a show with non-white lead actors. Wait to go NBC --the NON BROTHER CHANNEL!
I just wanted to say that a few of my friends & I really liked Undercovers. We looked forward to the show every week. The couple are so nice to look at. What can we do to keep it on?
Undercovers was fast,FUNNY, and great to watch. Why is it being cancelled when Chase gets extended with lower numbers, the Law and Orders hit their lowest numbers yet, and the Event which has to be a million times more expensive just in cast salaries alone, all get full pickups? 30 Rock gets rave reviews with NO corresponding audience to back it up, yet renewal after renewal. Veeery strange.
