'The Vampire Diaries': Michael Trevino wolfs out, plus Nina Dobrev on Jeremy's thing for Bonnie
Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" have been hotly anticipating Tyler's (Michael Trevino) transformation into a werewolf... and it looks like the time is now. Co-star Kat Graham tweeted a photo of a sign from the set with a very exciting message (we'll just ignore the bad grammar -- you try writing while handling live wolves).
I don't know about you, but I can hardly wait to see the transformation scenes. When Uncle Mason (Taylor Kinney) turned into a wolf, he had to chain himself up and sedate himself... of course, he was unsuccessful. Still, what we saw of the transformation looked painful and intense - I winced watching Mason struggle. Still, most of the actual switch from human to wolf was hidden from us -- Mason took shelter in his sweet Bronco.I'm sure Tyler's transformation will be even more startling, since it's a first for him. Hopefully, he won't have to go it alone. Lately, the bond between him and Caroline (Candice Accola) has grown stronger as they both learn to handle their new abilities and weaknesses. Maybe she can help him through the whole lycanthropy thing -- after all, she's proven to be surprisingly good at being a vampire.
If Trevino's performance in this episode is half as good as his recent work, I'm sure it's going to be quite a ride. Tyler isn't exactly a talker, but Trevino manages to make even his quietest scenes powerful and often painful. (Who didn't feel for Tyler when he realized he'd killed is friend Sarah? If you didn't get choked up, I'm concerned for you.)
The transformation will be directed by Marcos Siega, who directed 10 episodes of Season 1 and acted as supervising producer before leaving the show to work on other projects and spend time with his growing family in Los Angeles. Siega is beloved by fans, cast, and crew, so everyone is thrilled to have him back for this landmark episode.
Last week, Siega tweeted that he was, "Heading to ATL to get my werewolf on." Trevino responded with an ominous, "Time to go to hell and back." Ruh-roh.
While Tyler freaks out about turning into a wolf, his buddy Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is a little distracted... by a girl. He's got his eye on Bonnie (Graham) but she takes an interest in a newcomer to Mystic Falls, Luka (guest star Bryton James).
So what does big sister Elena think about her brother's crush on her BFF? MTV spoke to Nina Dobrev on her recent whirlwind NYC press trip -- and she says that right now, Elena is too distracted to notice the sparks!
"I think that Elena is so stuck in save the world, save my brother, save my friends and try to save myself and try-to-be-normal-at-the-same-time mode, that she's kind of oblivious to everything else that's going on around her," Dobrev says. "It'll be interesting to see once she comes back to normalcy."
Normalcy? In our Mystic Falls? Riiiiiiiiiiight.

I cannot wait to see Tyler's transformation scene. Werewolves on TV haven't fared so well in the past( I'm looking at you, Buffy the Vampire Slayer). I have full condfidence in this team of The Vampire Diaries. They turn out top notch quality shows each and every week. The more we learn about the places, characters, and mythologies the show is centered around the better it gets. As far as Jeremy and Bonnie are concerned, I am a huge fan of the two of them becoming an item. I love their chemistry. I don't know what Bonnie sees in this Luka fellow. Jeremy is pretty much perfect inside and out. You can't do better. I don't even need to know the new guy to know I won't like him because he'll be an obstacle to Bonnie and Jeremy hooking up.
Michael Trevino has impressed me in his few scenes. I'm excited about the werewolf storyline. I liked his scenes with Caroline.
Tyler will be a major player.
Jeremy-Bonnie: Epic fail! They don't have romantic chemistry and are incompatible. Bonnie is way too mature and adult for him. She is his older sister's best friend.
I also don't know too many 17 yr old girls who would go for immature, self-absorbed 15 yr olds boys that they don't seem to naturally click with. Bonnie would be better off as a big sister figure or just friends with Jeremy. Bonnie-Jeremy is the worst shipping idea for TVD. They did that to deflect from the Jyler dynamic. I don't buy their budding romance and it feels very contrived to me. I don't like their scenes together. Bonnie needs a grounded man who increase her character development, abilities, and be her equal psychologically & emotionally. Bonnie and Jeremy is just off for the characters and they trying to force a romance between the wrong characers. Bonnie and Jeremy don't have true sparks at all!
I also don't understand why people see Jeremy as perfect when he has shown a lot of undesirable traits. He has a lot of growing up to do and needs a girl at his level. Bonnie doesn't have time to coddle Jeremy.
Totally disagree with Tay: LOVE the Bonnie/Jeremy budding relationship and I think they have excellent chemistry. Epic WIN! Thought the writers were mad originally when they hinted as these two but I'm completely buying it, and Kat/Steven work well together imho. And I'm with Jetta; I already want this Luka dude to go away even if he turns out to be nicer than nice, but I'm all for him being the third wheel that helps open Bonnie's eyes to the growing feelings between her and Jeremy. I don't think Jeremy is perfect, none of the characters are, but I think he has matured, and has a really sweet protective nature, which will be good for Bonnie.
Finally - Who cares about the spelling fail. There are Wolves!! Cannot. Wait. To. See. Trevino rocks!
I'm definitely with Tay on this. Bonnie/Jeremy is so PUKEY-forced it's almost INCESTUOUS. Too bad for Jeremy being used to make Bonnie gain some 'interesting' phase in the TVD storyline. While both of them have some charm by themselves, they just don't naturally jell together...
Jyler just come naturally and their chemistry undeniable... KW is just so overwrought with EGO and would rather keep his COOL factor (by making TVD 'unpredictable') so he chose to dismiss what's most have noticed.
LOL, interesting how divided fans are over Bonnie and Jeremy!
Well, put me on the side AGAINST this pairing. It is just plain wrong. They are like family. Anything more makes me feel sick to my stomach. Not to mention the fact that the actors have no sexual chemistry.
As for the new guy, I'm open to seeing how his chemistry is with Bonnie. Maybe it will be great!
As for Caroline helping Tyler transform, um, isn't that a little dangerous for her? His bite could kill her and he won't have good self-control being a newbie. Wolf Mason "recognized" human Tyler and stopped attacking Stefan and Caroline when Tyler shouted at him, but that doesn't mean Wolf Tyler will be able to do the same.
What's with you weirdos? Jeremy and Bonnie together are HOT. I'm all for it!
While she's pretty in her own way... Katherina Graham is so MATRONIC SPINSTER next to Steven R McQueen... kinda like an aging coyote next to a bunnie... EEEEWWW...
Holy spelling and grammar Batman! Considering they used a computer to print the sign, you would think they'd use the spelling checker.
wolfs?!? quite?!?
No Bonnie and Jeremy, please! BAD idea. Let's find out that Anna can regenerate like Elijah did :) Now that was a couple with chemistry!
I'd give Tyler werewolf a bone.
