'Supernatural's Crowley makes an offer: Sam's soul for the alpha wolf
In last week's episode of "Supernatural," we found out who currently has possession of Sam's soul: it's Crowley (Mark Sheppard), everyone's favorite smart-mouthed King of Hell. If Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) ever want to get it back -- and restore Sam's humanity, fear, and facial expressions -- they're going to have to work for it.Dean isn't exactly pleased with the idea of working for a demon. He saw how well that worked out for Sam when Ruby had him by the neck.
In this Friday's episode, "All Dogs Go to Heaven," the Winchesters talk to Crowley to get some clarification on the terms of their arrangement. Crowley spells it out in simple terms. "I own your brother," he tells Dean, and not in the kindness of tones.
Sam is undoubtedly Dean's greatest weakness, and Crowley knows this. He dangles Sam's soul in front of them like a carrot for a horse. "Here's incentive," he says. "You bag me a live alpha, and I'll get you little Sammy's soul back with a cherry on top."
Crowley won't take just any alpha monster, though. He's got his eye on the one that ripped out the heart of a local businessman while the man sat in his car.
Sam suggest that the creature is a werewolf, but Dean points out that it's not a full moon. Of course, monsters haven't been adhering to their usual rules and patterns since Lucifer took a dive back into his cage.
We're hoping that Sam gets his soul back sooner rather than later. We think Padalecki is doing a phenomenal job playing Robo-Sam, but we wouldn't mind seeing the Winchesters crack a genuine smile sometime this century. What are your thoughts on the soul story, "Supernatural" fans?
Catch the episode this Friday, Nov. 12, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.

I think the whole "Souless Sam" idea is a little too similar to last season's "Sam is Lucifer's Vessel" in concept. After all, what we have here, yet again, is Dean being the protective Big Brother, and going to cosmically rescue little Sammy. AGAIN. Really? Can't we let Sam be the one to rescue his brother, in a direct way, for once? I think most of us know that Dean is being pitched as the show's Eternal Champion figure in its mythology. I daresay it's been The Dean Show for quite a while now. Maybe Padalecki reads more convincingly as a dark figure, or Mr. Ackles has issues with playing"evil" characters--he is a bit of a Church Crawler, in real life. The show was well oncluded at the end of season 5, and only contractual obligations and network pressure brought us this lame excuse for a season we are experiencing right now.I own every season of this show so far, but I will not be purchasing season 6.
