Molly Shannon heads to HBO, Chelsea Handler bound for NBC

Two networks cast votes for funny ladies, and Wisconsin actually elects a MTV star. For your enjoyment, political snacks:

"Saturday Night Live" alum Molly Shannon is attached to star in a comedy about a lapsed nun making her way in the world after more than two decades in a wimple. "Simpsons" writer/producer Tim Long is the lead on the project. [Vulture]

NBC wants a series about Chelsea Handler... not starring Chelsea Handler. The network picked up a proposed series based on her book "Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," with a pilot commitment. Described as a multi-camera comedy based on Chelsea's life in her 20s, Handler will merely produce, with a yet-to-be-found actress filling her boozy shoes. [Deadline]

BBC America's sci-fi drama "Primeval," which was canceled in 2009 only to be renewed for an additional two seasons, has wrapped production on Seasons 4 and 5. The first batch of episodes will debut on the UK's ITV in early 2011, with an American run expected to be announced shortly. [WorldScreen]

VH1's "Divas" franchise is going global, with the first ever "VH1 Divas Salute the Troops" taking place at military bases around the world. Tying the whole production -- which includes performances by Katy Perry, Sugarland, Keri Hilson, Nicki Minaj and Paramore -- will be Kathy Griffin. The recently announced host has a history with the troops, a frequent USO ambassador herself. [VH1]

Sean Duffy, who appeared on the Boston iteration of MTV's "The Real World" in 1997 and later married "Real World: San Francisco" star Rachel Campos, is now a U.S. Congressman. The Republican won his bid for representative of Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District, making us all to wonder what his BFF Montana is up to these days. [WQOW]

Oh Lord, not Molly Shannon trying a comedy again! Total Fail. She has already proven that she cannot pull it off. Her last show was the epitome of a disaster

CICI- you are money right now. Man, of all the networks willing to dish out money for a show, I thought HBO had better filters for the future. Absolutely FAIL.
As far as Chelsea Handler is concerned, it's not the worst idea for all these morons that consider sarcasm as a replacement for humor (sarcasm is NOT humor by the way, all you dumb college kids). So I wouldn't doubt that it actually gains support. Handler is a quick wit, so I respect her for that. Hopefully the NBC production is not a carbon-copy of her crappy E! "talk show."
Comedy like Chelsea Handler's is easy, not intelligent. So we'll see how it rounds out.

Handler is certainly NOT a quick wit. maybe a slow wit, at least a half wit.
