'Glee': Darren Criss may become a regular
Fans may love "Glee" guest star Darren Criss after his debut on Tuesday's (Nov. 9) episode, but the producers love him more. The relatively unknown actor-musician will reportedly get a promotion from recurring character to series regular, according to Deadline. Zap2it has reached out to FOX, but has yet to get confirmation.
Criss plays Blaine, a student at the rival Dalton Academy, who sings lead in their show choir. He befriends Kurt (Chris Colfer) and is a mentor of sorts for being out in high school. A romance between the two is expected (hoped for), but not entirely assured yet.
Criss, a University of Michigan grad, previously had a recurring role on "Eastwick" and a guest spot on "Cold Case." He's also known for starring in and writing "A Very Potter Musical," which sends up the Harry Potter books. (This is also why we chose the picture of him wearing glasses.)
We love him and his character Blaine so much, and last we checked, about 97 percent of Zap2it voters do too.. Do you know what this calls for? Yes, more "Teenage Dream":

I hope it works out and we don't have to wait until next season. I detest the idea of that thug being Kurt's plus one.
what about Mike Chang? I think he has more than earned a series regular role before someone who has made only 1 appearance. Ditto for Sam. Blaine was great, but give him more than 1 airing before you profess your undying love.
I loved Darren last night, and I'm glad that he has been given this opportunity, but I'm really sick of the Kurt storylines. They ignore half of the Glee Club and focus on Kurt because he's Ryan Murphy's favorite. I love Chris Colfer, but I can't stand Kurt, and I'm tired of his storylines being shoved down our throats. What about Mercedes, or Tina, or Mike Chang?
For those up in arms about Criss' potential promotion over others, the title of "series regular" has a different meaning when it comes to Glee. Jessalyn Gilsing, Jayma Mays, and Mike O'Malley are all regulars but Chord Overstreet and Harry Shum, Jr have been in more episodes and will end up with more screen time despite having lesser roles.
Blaine is a truely inspiring character on Glee. I really think Darren Criss brought justice to the role. His acting was natural, and didn’t even seem like acting. Darren really fit the role perfectly, Blaine came across as so charasmatic and level headed. Which is exactly what that role needs. I’m amazed, truely.
Also, Darren’s voice is ABOSLUTELY INCREDIBLE. His voice is… like magic. I can’t even describe it. I want to say something along the lines that his voice is as smoothe as butter, but I don’t know if that would really make much sense.
I would love if he became a regular. I would absolutely love to see more performances by him. I can’t immagine him not being on the show anymore actually, he fit so well into the cast, and thats only after one episode!
I'm on board! I loved Darren in his premiere episode. He is VERY cute and a great singer.
Darren Criss as a regular would be awesome. He's quite talented, and I loved A Very Potter Musical.
