'Dancing With the Stars' finale: Jennifer Grey rides high-scoring season to victory
All of the adorably self-parodying routines from the Season 11 eliminees
-- yes, even the Hoff's -- couldn't distract us from the real reason we
tuned in tonight... to see whether an '80s icon, an Alaskan "activist"
or a spirited Disney underdog would take home "Dancing With the Stars"
storied mirrorball trophy.
And it came down to the semi-expected Jennifer Grey. Yes, after a warmly received favorite dance (her Week 1 Viennese Waltz) and an even instant-er "Instant Dance," it was hers to lose. Then again, it always was.
Grey and partner Derek Hough's win validates the importance of real talent, in a season where so many high scoring competitors made surprising exits early on. The duo topped Kyle Massey, who came in second, and Bristol Palin, who landed in third.
Hough, incidentally, earns a spot in the "DWTS" history books as the first pro to take home a third mirrorball. Imagine how sparkly the guest bathroom in his house must be.
So what do you think -- happy for Jennifer and Derek or were you sort of expecting the Bristol train to plow all the way through to the finale? And what of our sweet Kyle?
Comments are officially open for your Season 11 eulogies.

Five Words: Worst Winner On DWTS Ever. She can start thanking Patrick Swayze for that win.
phew. the best dancer won. not the most improved" i get people appreciate that but thats more of a secondary thing. and just because bristol has improved a lot doesnt mean the other dancers didnt.
Yes!!! Exactly as it should be. Bristol should not have even been in the finals & so happy for Kyle that he came in 2nd over Bristol!!! He was amazing and so fun to watch as the youngest one there!!! Congrats Jennifer - you were amazing and look fantastic!!
Given the Final 3 we were left with, tonight's win for Jennifer feels totally right. She was clearly the best dancer of the three (although Kyle definitely gets points for his entertaining performances all season). Guess Bristol can save that middle finger of hers for Levi; at least now she can go back to being a...what was that term again?...oh yeah, "teen activitist".
I didn't see Jennifer's face move all night.
Good to see the deserving Jennifer Grey win, even though I absolutely love Kyle, he is ever so adorable!
So glad that Bristol didn't win. Now I hope she leaves from the public view forever. She can also take her mother with her.
It was soooo ridiculous that Bristol was in DWTS in the first place. But to be in the finals, was ridiculous. Sure she improved after 12 weeks, but each additional week that the stars stayed, they ALL improved. Even after 12 weeks, Bristol STILL could not dance.
Glad DWTS ended up being a talent show again and NOT a comment on the Teaparty movement. The right contestant won.
Felt it would be J & D since week one- I just wish that Brandy had still been there to see if she or Jennifer would have won. Kyle- wish you could be on every year! You did an amazing job! I truly did boycott last 2 episodes after Brandy home, Bristol still in it- hope others did the same- just wrong, glad it's over
