'Dancing With the Stars': Bristol Palin says scandal 'boosted ratings'
Bristol "the pistol" Palin came out with guns a-blazin' on the "Dancing With the Stars" finale -- though not in the way you might have expected. Maintaining a generally shy persona with the press and on camera throughout the season, she dropped the act for the finale, saying that winning would be "a big middle finger to all the people out there who hate my mom and hate me."
With the votes already cast, it seems the time for pageantry has passed.
Palin and partner Mark Ballas spoke with press, including Zap2it, after finishing third, and when asked if she intended the remark as some sort of slam, she skirted the question. "My plan was just to go out there and have fun," she says. "And that's what I did."
On the subject of constant speculation over her votes and the recent threats against her, she's equally vague. "I think it boosted its ratings," she says.
Searching for something positive, we asked her how the show stacked up to her expectations. "I never thought i would be so fully consumed by this," she says. "It was awesome."
Well, at least there's that.

I don't think anyone's been mean. Girl is a famewhore, negative comments are a consequence of that. And it's pretty clear that she's adopted the typical famewhore delusional self-defense mechanism (it's like she's straight out of "The Real World" or "The Hills"), so it's not like it's possible to hurt her feelings. We're all just haters to her, yo.
I'm glad she showed this side of herself. Maybe now we can leave her alone so she can, I dunno, raise her baby.
I am curious though- what is it that she's standing up for? Is she defending those with no discernible talent (getting pregnant- not a skill, really) who somehow get major media attention?
I don't know why everyone picked on Bristol because of who her mother is. It wasn't Sarah busting her behind to learn to dance and it too alot of guts to do what Bristol did - after all she never pretended to be a dancer.
Personally I am glad I don't have to listen to Jennifer moan and groan about her aches and pains. She knew when she signed on what shape and limitations she had - I think she did all the lamenting about her pain to help get the sympathy vote.
I think it is time for Derek to get someone that doesn'thave a background in dance like everyone else...

Hey, Bristol, you know what? It's called a "COMPETITION"! When people say you can't dance as well as the others it's because you can't dance as well as the others. That's what happens in a COMPETITION. People saying you can't dance as well as the others is simply a fact that is apparent to any observer so don't try to pin that fact on someone else by calling them "haters". It has nothing to do with hate and every bit to do with other competitors can dance better than you. If you can't take the criticism that others can dance better than you then maybe you shouldn't have entered a DANCE COMPETITION.
I wonder who the TOKEN Republican will be next year, will they last this long? Will Joy Behar still be alive next year? Will Kathy (pig) Griffin still be on the D-List?
Great competition. I loved every second of it. I couldn't get enough. And March 2011 season 12 can't get here soon enough for me.
well, the last token Republican before Bristol was Tom Delay, and he was just convicted today in a Texas court (on one of his many indictments)!!
