Cookie Monster tries out for 'Saturday Night Live'
Betty White? Old news. Another American icon has started his own Facebook campaign to host "Saturday Night Live."We speak of Cookie Monster, the lovable glutton -- er, excuse us, "cookie enthusiast" -- who has been a regular on "Sesame Street" for several decades. He knows you may not be convinced, so he's made an audition tape to show how he'd do as host.
The audition is below, and he hits all his marks: The monologue, a sketch ("Macarooner," a takeoff on "MacGruber"), "Weekend Update" (Cookie calls it "Fake News"), the musical guest, the good-nights at the end of the show. We particularly enjoyed Monster Gaga's piano-only rendition of "Cookie Face."
(Seriously, whoever's in charge of making these "Sesame Street"/Muppets viral videos should get a MacArthur genius grant or something. Every one we've seen is just spot-on.)
You can join the Cookie Monster-"SNL" campaign by hitting the like button his Facebook page (8,500 fans and counting as of this posting). Here's his audition:

SNL: Saturday Night Lame
since SNL airs at 11:30 pm when the little kiddies are fast asleep , can someone at NBC sneak Cookie Monster some cOOkies please as he must be getting sick of all those damn vegetables and fruits the CTW on Sesame Street have been giving him .
There must be something in those cookies for him to want to do this gig. C is for Cookie and I don't mean a chocolate chip kind.
guess the cookies he's eating are loaded... way to go CM!
