'Backwash's' Josh Malina: He'd trade places with Mel Gibson plus 18 other admissions
If there was any person who we'd follow from The White House in "The West Wing" to being on the lam in an ice cream truck, it's Josh Malina.
Malina wrote and stars in "Backwash," which premieres Monday (Nov. 15) on Crackle.com, Sony Pictures Entertainment's online video network.
The 13 episode comedy series follows Jonesy (played by Michael Panes), Val (Malina) and their buddy, Fleming (Michael Ian Black) as they're on the run after Jonesy unintentionally robs a bank of $100,000. Their getaway car? Fleming's ice cream truck.
Malina may be playing at keeping secrets in "Backwash," but he agreed to give up some personal deets for Zap2it's Celeb Slam Book.
Find out why he'd trade places with Mel Gibson plus 18 other guilty confessions:
1.) Tell us one thing we don't know about you.
Musical theatre overtures make me tear up.
2.) If you could change one thing about your face what would it be and why?
I'd generally re-arrange the features to create a less amphibious effect.
3.) Who was the first girl you kissed?
An adorable girl in summer camp grabbed me by the hand, took me into the woods and planted one on me. Cue "Brady Bunch-like" fireworks.
4.) Describe your daily routine.
Get up at 5:45. Make my daughter lunch. Fight with her about her refusal to eat breakfast. Take her to bus stop. Say "good night" to my Twitter friends from Australia and New Zealand. Return home. Help my wife get my son ready for school. You know what, it's only 8 AM at this point and I've already bored your readers. I'll stop here...
5.) If you could be invisible, tell us a naughty thing you would do.
I'd sit and read quietly in a corner. Woo-hoo!
6.) If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I'd like to meet Mel Gibson, so I could tell him to f*** off.
7.) If you had to choose another career, what would you be?
A successful actor.
8.) What super power would you like to have?
The ability to make people like me without having to interact with them.
9.) Favorite alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink?
Cynar. It's an artichoke-based liqueur. Tastes like tar, but it's very chic.
10.) What's your favorite thing to do in your free time?
11.) Who is your best friend?
Melissa -- my delightful wife.
12.) Tell us about one of your most embarrassing moments.
I had a brief discussion with Andre Braugher at the Emmys during which I thought he was Courtney Vance. He had no idea who I was, which lessened the embarrassment (a little).
13.) What clique did you fall into in middle school?
In middle school I fell in with the Jewish crowd, but then I was at a yeshiva.
14.) What was the last compliment someone paid you, and who said it?
My son Avi told me that I was "more comfortable than any pillow."
15.) Which character on "The Breakfast Club" do you most identify with?
I identify most closely with John Bender, but I think it's because Judd Nelson and I have big nostrils.
16.) What do your friends make fun of you for the most?
My dazzling good looks.
17.) What's your favorite song to sing in the car?
It's a toss-up between "America the Beautiful" and "Heaven on Their Minds" from "Jesus Christ Superstar." Both are sung at the top of my lungs.
18.) What's your guilty pleasure?
I like to watch sociopathic, borderline alcoholic "Real Worlders" compete in physical stunts against depraved "Road Rulers" with impulse-control problems. For money.
19.) If you could trade lives with someone for one day, who would it be and why?
I'd like to trade places with Mel Gibson, so I could tell myself to f*** off.
