'V' returns in January; ABC books 'Skating With the Stars'
The countdown to the return of "V" can officially begin now.ABC announced Friday (Oct. 15) that the second season of the alien-invasion series will kick off on Jan. 4. It will air at 9 p.m. ET Tuesdays following "No Ordinary Family," in the spot currently occupied by the "Dancing With the Stars" results show.
The scheduling of "V's" premiere so soon after the new year should probably let it play out its full 13-episode run before the spring edition of "Dancing" starts in late March.
ABC has also picked up a new competition show called "Skating With the Stars" to fill the gap between the end of the fall "DWTS" and the start of "The Bachelor" in January.
The show -- which we're guessing will be a lot like "Dancing," but on ice -- will get a two-hour premiere at 9 p.m. ET Monday, Nov. 22, following the final "DWTS" performance episode of this cycle. It moves to 8 p.m. the following week and will conclude on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
Participants will be announced during the "DWTS" results show on Nov. 2.

Um, pretty sure Fox already had Skating With Celebrities... and it was pretty much a disaster. But, good luck with that ABC.
Celebrities....ice skates.....what could possibly go wrong?
I doubt that skating thing will fly. An identical format went one-and-done at Fox just a few years ago.
Isn't the last US skating show the one where the actress and skater got together and he wound up divorcing his wife? Who was that...?
GREAT JOB ABC... i hope that they will advertise the heck out of V in the coming months... January.. and it was replaced in November by a show that will barely make 3 million viewers. WoW
Didn't FOX try this a few years ago and it tanked bad in the ratings? Are we talking skating or roller skating now? Oh joy, V is coming back yet again.
And didn't Fox copy Wife Swap from ABC & that Nanny show???
I guess "original" programming is a foreign concept in TV Land.
While they won't get A-list celebrities I am betting ABC will get a better selection of "stars" for its skating show than FOX had.
I just hope the Skating With the Stars has the same production values as DWTS: great host and cohost with appealing personalities and clever wit; eye-catching arena for the performances; great music/band/ and-or singers; talented choreographers; interesting video montages; etc. If it does and they get good skating stars, it'll be a hit. Since it's from the same production company that gave us DWTS then it should be well done unlike that garbage Elizabeth Hasselbeck hosted last year.
Sounds like Skating with the Stars will be very much like the Canadian show Battle of the Blades which teams up hockey players with figure skaters.
