'Supernatural': 'Twilight', 'Vampire Diaries' fans beware in 'Live Free or Twihard'

We've been looking forward to "Supernatural's" latest vampire adventure, and now we've got the first production photos from the brilliantly titled "Life Free or Twihard." Beware, spoiler-phobes!

When we spoke to executive producer Sera Gamble about the episode, she told us that the writers were inspired by the "Twilight" and "Vampire Diaries" crazes. Let's just say that 2010 is a vampire's paradise. Gamble says, "There's never been a better time to be vampire because victims just fling themselves at you, because they're like 'Twilight' fans."

Of course, the vampires on "Supernatural" don't sparkle, and their idea of a fun night probably isn't a romantic ride on a Ferris wheel. "Vampires are very vicious and kind of ugly and brutal on our show," Gamble reminds us. "So they're taking advantage of the fact that girls kind of want Edward Cullen or the brothers on 'The Vampire Diaries.'"

If you're thinking that Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) doesn't look particularly well-rested in these photos, he's got good reason. While he and Sam (Jared Padalecki) are trying to save a group of young girls from the nest of vampires in town, Dean is bitten -- and, in a shocking twist, turned into a vampire. Mitch Pileggi returns as Samuel, who may have a solution... a dangerous one.

We can't wait to see Jensen Ackles with those nasty fangs. Gross.

"Live Free or Twihard" airs Friday, Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
