'Spartacus': Andy Whitfield's title role being recast

Starz has officially begun the process of re-casting "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" star Andy Whitfield, who gracefully bowed out of the role to fight an ongoing battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. The network's CEO Chris Albrecht considered canceling the series after the six-episode prequel airs beginning in January, but reports now say that producers have officially put out a casting notice for the title role of Spartacus.
The notice calls for a Caucasian male with an authentic British accent, in his mid- to late-30s. While we're sad to see Whitfield go, and we can't imagine that he'll be easily replaced, we're sure he's glad to know that the show will go on.

Are you joking?! You can't recast him, he is the ONLY Spartacus.. this idea is absurd.

sucks but this is one of the best shows on tv right now and its for the best to keep it going

I definitely think it's an awesome show, with Andy or no Andy. And I think that the prequel will definitely prove that. Although Andy was a great actor, and did very well, there are a lot of great roles behind him, as well as great people who made the show spectacular. I would be sad if the show was completely shut down over all of this. A lot of people put amazing work into this series and I definitely want to see more.

The guy that played Aaragorn from the movie 'The Road'? He's like 80 years old, that would be a joke. This guy looks alot like the guy that starred in Clash of the Titans (new) and Terminator Salvation. Maybe grab him if possible.

Why not watch the show if he's recast? I'll admit, it does suck and the producers do not want to have to recast but it doesn't look like they have a choice. Andy's condition has worsened and he has bowed out. But he would still like to see the show go on even without himself playing the part.
So, it's either cancel the show or recast. The story of Spartcus is to big to cancel. I just hope they make the right choice with a recast and the new actor studies Andy's part very well. It has to seem like the same character or else it won't work.
I actually thought Andy the guy who played in Terminator Salvation and the latest Clash of the Titans were one in the same.
