'Smallville's' Tom Welling and Erica Durance on the final season

smallville-200-welling-durance.gifIn last week's last-ever "Smallville" season premiere, Lois Lane (Erica Durance) took the bad advice of a Lex Luthor clone and left Clark (Tom Welling) behind for Africa. Don't worry -- the iconic duo won't be separated for long.

"Well, she comes back for Clark, of course!" Durance exclaims at the series' 200th Episode party in Vancouver. Zap2it was on the scene with all the stars to get the scoop on what you can expect from Season 10. Right now, Lois thinks that she stands in the way of Clark's true destiny.

"So far, the stuff that we've done is about her finding out where she fits in with who he is and how she can best be a partner and support him," Durance says.

"Lois likes to keep things interesting for Clark," Welling adds. "She's an interesting character. It's going to be Clark juggling the two worlds and finding a way to meld them together. I don't know how he's going to do it."

Romance aside, Clark hasn't forgotten about his friends. Unfortunately, he's currently under the impression that Chloe (Allison Mack) is dead. "As far as he's concerned, Chloe's not alive," Welling says. "It's only later that he finds out that she might be." Welling expects that Clark will be involved in Oliver's (Justin Hartley) search.

Meanwhile, Durance is looking forward to a particular guest star's appearance. Teri Hatcher, who played Lois Lane opposite Dean Cain's Clark Kent on "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," joins the cast in episode 8, "Abandoned," as Lois's mother, Ella.

"I was in shooting another scene at the time and it was supposed to be a really funny scene, and I got the text and I burst into tears," Durance says. "I had an absolute, unequivocal fan moment. I'm thrilled."

Ella Lane isn't the only dead parent on the show this season. We've already seen Jonathan Kent (John Schneider) and fans are looking forward to the return of Lionel Luthor (John Glover) as well.

Of course, no return is more highly anticipated than the one that isn't confirmed yet. "We hope to see [Michael] Rosenbaum, always," Welling says. "I don't know how you end this show without Lex Luthor."

I love Tom and Erica
I can't wait for tonight's episode!

Love, love, LOVE Tom and Erica's Clark and Lois. They have great chemistry and are fun to watch!

Tom Welling and Erica Durance are great.he is so fine, and she is a knockout.I love them. Smallville is on fire!!!!!!!!!!!

Clark and Lois have great chemistry, but my feeling is Tom and Erica don't seem to like each other much. Tom's body language at Comic Con was very telling, and his body language when they posed photos, they look like they don't seem to get on off-screen. I could be wrong.

@Hannah: Actually, I always hear that Tom and Erica get along really well. They've mentioned it in interviews and I've heard about it from other people on the show. And the few behind the scenes pictures you can find of them usually have them laughing and smiling together.

@lee like i said i could be wrong, i don't know them personally obviously, but just looking at body language and all that, they don't seem to like each other. Also, Erica said in one of her interviews about Shield that Carter was the one "I had ALL her scenes with and SO I had a really, really good time"!!!! If that isn't damning of her main co-star Tom, I don't know what is. And the chemistry seems to be missing in the first ep of SV, and they don't even share a scene in Shield. Maybe they really can't stand to be near each other!!

love smallville!!!!!

oh no! please tell me Tom and Erica don't hate each other!!!! I couldn't watch Smallville if this was the case!

It's funny, I kind of always felt like they might not get along too well off-screen either. They do seem to have very different personality types - Tom seems very guarded and private and Erica is a bit more outgoing. But honestly, I'm sure a lot of it simply has to do with the fact that they both have spouses and don't want people making any assumptions about an off-screen romance. They are, after all, portraying a very iconic couple, have great chemistry on-screen and I'm sure it's hard for some fans to not get caught up in that and assume they are in actual couple in real life. I'm sure they get along just fine.

@sand
I couldn't agree more! They probably don't want to set rumours flying off.
