'Pretty Little Liars' Lucy Hale, Ian Harding: New character Simone 'stirs things up'

lucy-hale-ian-harding-pll-set.jpg"Pretty Little Liars" just announced that two new characters are coming to Rosewood -- Caleb (Tyler Blackburn), a flirty bad boy, and Simone, played by Alona Tal ("Veronica Mars"), who is going to cause a bit of trouble for Aria and Mr. Fitz.

"Simone ... was my babysitter growing up," star Lucy Hale tells Zap2it during our exclusive set visit now that "Liars" is back in production. "I looked up to her, idolized her, wanted to be her. In the character description, they describe her as 'an older Aria.' She comes back into town unexpectedly and sort of hits it off with Mr. Fitz."

Uh oh. We think Simone sounds like a troublemaker.

"There's definitely going to be some friction," Hale agrees. "She stirs things up a little bit."

"Let's just say there's some chemistry that happens between us," adds Ian Harding, of his character Ezra Fitz and Simone.

And the chemistry may not be entirely one-sided.

"I will leave that for you all to decide, but ... there are some mutual interests they share," says Harding. "There are some loaded exchanges."

But does this mean Mr. Fitz doesn't love Aria?

"There's a very awesome scene that will answer your question that's in the end of [episode 14]. We'll see which way that goes," Harding teases.

"Pretty Little Liars" returns in January 2011 to ABC Family. Look for more goodies from our visit to Rosewood over the coming weeks.

Who cares if Fitz loves Aria. She's 16 and he is an adult and her teacher. It's not love it's felony.

Its also a TV show

You say that like that type of stuff never happens in real life. She's legal in real life, which made the scenes easier for him to do.

Yeah, and it is also a TV show.

Ughhh! I love Mr. Fitz and Aria together. This new girl do not want to get in the way of that...lol

It is funny how people forget that it's a TV show and while a teacher dating a student is not right or appropriate, is it so wrong to root for something on tv that we can't root for in real life? Not all of us teenagers are stupid, i'm not going to run out and get it on with my teacher, relax.

It's confusing when they refer to themselves as their characters. When I read the article, I thought Lucy was saying that the person who plays Simone was her babysitter...
And about the teacher and student romance, it's really not that crazy if you think about it. If Mr Fitz were, say, just a neighbor or family friend of Aria's (and not a teacher at all, lol), it wouldn't be a big deal irl.

Relax. Its a television show. A DRAMA television show. God, if they didn't throw in some DRAMA, then it would be a BORING show. Common sense, people.

DUDE WTF?????? I Dont Remember There Being A Simone In The Books.. They Shoul Really Stick With The Book Plot

i hope that this new girl does not start an thing with aria and ezra

I think Alona Tal will be a great addition to Pretty Little Liars....especially if her personality is anything like her sarcastic and witty character Jo on Supernatural. However, the only complaint I have is that adding characters like Simone and Alex and those who do not show up in the book series will in my opinion throw it off...they should pay more attention to the details presented in the books and follow it closely. The storyline is as complex as it needs to be already. Why add more ?
