President Obama nabs 'The Daily Show' an extra million viewers

president-obama-daily-show.jpgPresident Obama's visit to "The Daily Show," a first for a sitting president, was good for 2.8 million viewers, which is about a million more than the show usually earns, according to the New York Times.

Comedy Central has reported that it was the third-highest-rated episode of the news satire show, behind then-candidate Barack Obama appearing on the show in October 2008 and his wife Michelle Obama's appearance that same month.

"The Daily Show" audience has steadily been right around 1.87 million viewers over the last three years. Did you watch President Obama's sit down with Jon Stewart? If you missed it, we've got video here.

I missed it, I'm not into gay porn.

What a disappointment.

It is so nice to see that our sitting President has plenty time to be TV. Since taking office, he and VP Biden have spent quite a bit of time guesting on talk shows that are not the usual round of political shows (i.e. Sunday mornings). Too bad they haven't spent their time wisely as in serving the people who elected them. Everyone should take a moment and reflect on how much time & money (security & travel)have been spent on these appearances. Seems to me that our taxpayer dollars could be put to better use or at least spent a little more wisely!

Lin-

Bush took obscene amounts of vacation. Shut your goddamn mouth

Give me a break Lin. Its a chance for the President to reach out to the people about his policies which I believe is an important function of his job. Also, the Daily Show was in Washington, DC so tell me, how much money was spent on travel that you have a problem in this case....or are you just being disingenious?

Soooooo..... WHEN was the last time he addressed the White House press corps again? But he'll meet with comedians when they're in town. I love how he referred to Jon Stewart as a "pundit." He's not a pundit. He's a comedian, making fun of pundits, but he's not a pundit. I think this is a snapshot of what's wrong with our country-- we have a president who can't tell the difference between clowns in suits and actual journalists.

what Bilbo said.

Always staged and teleprompter ready for fear he will expose himself as a Marxist Radical....too late

Zero - Like the staged and teleprompter setting he had when he basically tore apart Republicans at their retreat headquarters in Baltimore? Try using another argument rather than spouting the misguided rhetoric the party of No is famous for.

Yes, lots of people got to see the office of the presidency demeaned.
