'Outlaw' goes on production hiatus, oddsmakers favor Katy Perry for 'Glee'

This courtroom is out of... business? (Hey-oh!) At least that's the most likely assumption given NBC's decision to put "Outlaw" production on hiatus due to languishing ratings. This doesn't mean the legal drama is technically "canceled," but barring some secret nationwide plan to start watching the series on the fourth episode, it's basically a death sentence. [HR]

Now that "Glee's" Britney Spears episode is fading in the rear-view, folks are wondering which artist will be next to get the full treatment from the series. And if oddsmakers are to be believed, Katy Perry is the most likely. The singer tops Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Mariah Carey and David Bowie in a poll -- leading us to wonder if they chose the proper episode to question the existence of god. [Bookmaker]

Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson are developing a cop drama for FOX called "Chameleon," which is being described as "a modern-day Don Quixote tale." The duo previously held the esteemed honor of helming "Homicide" and "Oz" as executive producers, but their most recent collaboration was NBC's "The Philanthropist." Things can only go up from there, boys! [Variety]

For every cancellation, there is the inevitable plea from rabid, niche fans for the network in question to ignore their quest to not hemorrhage money by keeping said show afloat. This week: ABC Family's "Huge," which despite getting told it would not receive a second season, already has a petition to save it that's amassed a whopping... 7,852 signatures. [Jezebel]

I know that the post Supr Bowl episode is expected to be a tribute to possibly Micheal Jackson or Bruce Springsteen, (both worthy) but until then, I vote to have Ryan Murphy and the writers concentrate on developing the characters and writing good storylines (with some semblance of continuity please!) and then add some good applicable song selections to accentuate the episode rather than having these "tribute episodes" which tend to be all about the songs and kissing the artist's behinds....

Please don't take Outlaw......PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE don't take Jimmy away.I've lost Lone star...now this.Whats left on Friday?Put it on Thursday theres nothing on to watch......but please don't take Outlaw!

I love Jimmy Smits -- CANE was a favorite of mine, and DEXTER... what a role! -- but OUTLAW just hasn't done it for me. It feels like yet another courtroom drama, of which there are already waaaayyy too many on TV.

This season seems to be filled with new cop dramas, and new courtroom dramas. And I like exactly none of them. Not that I don't like the genres; I love THE GOOD WIFE, I love LAW & ORDER: SVU. But the new LAW & ORDER: LA? Not so much. HAWAII FIVE-O? Not grabbing me.

Networks, give us more new shows like THE EVENT. More shows like HAVEN, NIKITA, V, MAD MEN. More RUBICON!!! Shows that are creative, that don't stick to formulaic writing, that make us THINK.

I think this is simply one of the best legal themed shows ever. Jimmy Smits is impeccable and the writing is top notch. I wonder whether the show goes over alot of people's heads? Rather than trample the well worn path of legal tv show cliches, Outlaw always takes the unexpected turn and explores complex ideas and themes in an enthralling, intellectual and realistic way. If this show gets cancelled it will be one of the biggest travesties in television history as far as I'm concerned.

I love OUTLAW, but it should not air opposite BLUE BLOODS which is even better. There's gotta be another place on the schedule for OUTLAW. . . maybe Monday at 10/9pm?

Is anyone surprised by Huge's cancellation? Who wants to watch a bunch of fatties? Nobody, that's who.

Cane- yup, that was a GREAT show- have been watching Outlaw and it works for me (but for the annoying brunette!)- why can't Jimmy find a keeper? Appeals to males and females and is a super actor- even on West Wing he pulled it off- he needs a show people!!

Please dont cancel Outlaw!! Cancel that darn Event, that show does not make sense!! Please dont take Outlaw!!!!

Saw the show one time and it was drivel. It's tanking pretty bad and judging by this news, this show is getting moved to Saturdays and getting burned off and then, it's CXL time for it.

The show is great and improves each week. It needs a chance...it didn't get ANY push from NBC whatsoever. It can still survive if people tune in...DVR whatever else you may be watching and help save OUTLAW!!! It can be done!
