There have been a lot of rumblings about whether or not "The City" will be returning for another season, since the network hasn't announced its renewal yet. Now, the show's star says the show isn't coming back and Zap2it's sources close to the production confirm that the show has been canceled.

"As of right now, it doesn't really look like we're doing it anymore," Whitney Port, 25, tells Ryan Seacrest on his radio show. She went on to tell Seacrest that there are no plans for the reality show to move to another network.

In the meantime, Port is setting her eyes on the future. "I'm working on some other things," she says. "It's okay. One door closes and another opens."

There has been a lot of talk in the industry that MTV under new president Judy McGrath has set its priorities on steering away from reality shows and more towards scripted series like MTV's American version of "Skins" and its "Teen Wolf" reboot.

As Zap2it first reported, the network shut the doors on new reality series, "Bridge & Tunnel," for apparently being too similar to "Jersey Shore."

MTV was unable to reply to our request for confirmation by the time this article posted. We'll update when it does.

[Update Tuesday, Oct. 26 2:02 p.m. ET An MTV spokesperson says, "'The City' will not be returning to MTV for Season 3. Whitney has been a part of our family for many years and we wish her and the cast the best, and hope to collaborate with them again."]

Is "The City" also a casualty of the network's new direction? Will you miss the show as much as we will?

THERE IS A GOD!

Oh no...I'll miss "The City". It was much better than that Jersey Shore garbage. Good luck to Whitney

Eh.. I think this is for the best. Whitney is too bland to carry a show and was piggybacking off The Hills which is now off the air. Plus, the stories were going nowhere. How many episodes were we gonna be treated to where Olivia screws up but keeps her job while Erin festers with resentment and shoots her scornful looks?

I Think its refreshing that there moving toward more scripted fair instead of the reality garbage

the city it is very good i love witny
