'Friday Night Lights': ABC Family sacks syndicated episodes after low ratings
"Friday Night Lights" just can't catch a break. Little more than a month into its syndicated run on ABC Family, the network has pulled the series from its schedule.
Would-be fans hoping to catch "FNL" from the beginning first noticed its disappearance from their DVR today, and now EW reports the decision seems to be final.
An network representative had this to say on the show's fate: "As of today, Monday, Oct. 18, FNL is no longer on ABC Family's schedule. It wasn't performing from a ratings standpoint. We moved it around the schedule, but unfortunately it wasn't holding up."
Ouch. Another unfortunate blow for a series beleaguered by low ratings since it began on NBC in 2006.
But even all that bad news can't hold up the show's fifth and final season, which starts its run DirecTV run on Oct. 27. For a little information on what to expect, here's the latest behind the scenes video of Season 5:

America sucks. This is one of the best shows of the last 20-30 years.
I've been watching it on netflix streaming!
Give me a break, ABC Family. No reason to watch that garbage network again. Put FNL reruns on a real network and leave them be.
A better timeslot would help.
I guess that explains why I couldn't DVR it today. I'm upset I was really looking forward to watching the whole series again. It's one of the best shows ever on tv!!!
There's this new invention out. I think it's called... DVD!!
I completely agree with Ed that this is one of the best shows of the last 20-30 years on TV. What a shame that mainstream America doesn't know quality programming when they get it.
Instead of blaming ABC Family, just consider the facts. FNL gets poor ratings because it is so slow and boring! It's not a good show, but a small segment of society wants to convince the rest of us that it is a good show.
According to DirecTV listings, FNL begins October 27, not October 28. No wonder no one watches! Ha.
I have never watched the show before. I was excited to watch it from the begining. Now i am going to have to find another way to watch the rest of the epsiodes. I am very dissapointed in ABC Family. If you are going to start airing epsiodes complete the run of the series for people who have never seen the show.
