DVR ratings: 'Hawaii Five-0,' 'Grey's Anatomy' are your premiere week champions
DVR ratings for the first week of the 2010-11 season are finally out, and the pattern of previous seasons pretty much held: Shows that were big the night they aired were also big in delayed viewing.Case in point: The premiere of "Hawaii Five-0," which added more viewers (3,374,000) than any other broadcast-network show for the week of Sept. 20-26. It was already a top-15 show in the same-day ratings, and it remained that way in the live-plus-7 tally. (It actually moved up from 11th place to seventh, passing "Grey's Anatomy," "Two and a Half Men," "NCIS: Los Angeles" and the very lightly recorded "60 Minutes.")
"The Mentalist" and "Grey's Anatomy," which jockeyed for the top spot in the DVR rankings last season, came in second and third in terms of viewers added; "The Mentalist" scored 3.2 million extra viewers in the live-plus-7 ratings, while "Grey's" added just under 3 million. "Grey's" was also the biggest gainer in the adults 18-49 demographic, adding 1.4 ratings points. With DVR use factored in it became the week's No. 1 non-sports show in the demo.
After "Five-0," NBC's "The Event" (2,546,000 viewers added) and CBS' "Blue Bloods" (2,224,000) got the biggest boost from DVR ratings. "America's Most Wanted" was the least DVR'd show of premiere week (excluding sports), adding only 87,000 viewers to its total in the live-plus-7 ratings.
You can see the top 10 DVR'd in both total viewers and percentage gained in this gallery. Here are a few other notables:
"The Big Bang Theory": 2,268,000 viewers added
"Glee": 2,248,000

"How I Met Your Mother": 1,282,000
"Chuck": 1,233,000
"Undercovers": 984,000
"The Vampire Diaries": 836,000

i have no clue how all this works...will that help the event at all???
also i watch all 3 hawaii 5.0 episodes this weekend and loved it...cant wait to watch live tonight
It's good to see The Vampire Diaries on the list. It deserves it.
These numbers mean nothing because advertisers only care about who's watching their commercials, and if you're DVR'ing then more likely than not you're zipping through the commercials. Product placement doesn't come close to making up the shortfall.
Wait? Your telling me Alex O'loughlin finally has a hit on his hands?
Seriously?? Different faces, different locale, but other than that- same old same old same old. Zero in any department in the way of anything new. Dressing up the guard to look like the bad guy? This is so old, even real cops would have it figured out by now. That is, if it wasn't so laughable.
Could you explain how this works, Rick? Is Big Brother involved?
do they count the on demand viewers from comcast at all?
LOVE Hawaii Five-0..One of the few new show's that got it right this year..
I love the new hawaii 5-0.
Hawaii Five-O is a great show! Very entertaining, can hardly wait for each new episode. I've almost, forgiven CBS for canceling "Moonlight".
