Idol Thoughts
David Archuleta's album 'The Other Side of Down' -- what do you think?
"American Idol" finalist David Archuleta released his third album, titled "The Other Side of Down," Tuesday (Oct. 5) -- what do you think, Archie fans?We think it will be well-received by his fans and definitely reflects the place Archuleta is in his life right now. It's a mixture of love songs and uplifting songs of encouragement, which is pretty much what we expected.
The first four or five songs on the album are all fairly similar. There's nothing bad about any of them, but they are light, bubble gum pop with a dance beat background that kind of blur together.
When the album really picks up, for us, is on the the sixth track, "Falling Stars," which is a gorgeous ballad with piano accompaniment that really shows off David's range. Our other favorite piece is "My Kind of Perfect," which is about a young man looking for his love that he knows is out there and he'll keep searching until he finds the girl who is perfect for him. It's, well, perfect for teens and young adults looking for love, but also shows off some of the maturity Archie has always had.
We also fully expect to see David perform the uplifting number "Things Are Gonna Get Better," which starts off softer and ends with a full gospel choir, if they do "Idol Gives Back" this year. It's like it was written just for that occasion.
Overall, solid effort. Archie can still belt out the tunes with aplomb and we think his fans will be very happy with "The Other Side of Down." You can purchase the album at any number of places, including Amazon, iTunes and David's official site. You can also watch the music video of "Something 'Bout Love" here.

Shes a hot mess, its like come out already gf!
OK singer but no Kelly or Carrie for sure, those girls out do her.
David's new cd is not just for his fans. These songs are personal and show growth and maturity both lyrically and musically. There are songs that make you get up and dance and there are songs that make you cry. Remember when music meant something other than let's get naked? This cd is a Good Place to be!! Listen on AOL and buy it on iTunes.
btw, David is HOT, HOT, HOT!!!
THIS ALBUM IS INCREDIBLE! WAY TO GO ARCHIE!
I love David's new album. Listen to the song Elevator. It's so good!
Amazing 2nd pop album by David!
Love all the songs especially Falling Stars which I hope will be the next single. His music is a million times above all those meaningless, trashy stuff on radio these days.
Love David's new album, it has it all...great songs, amazing lyrics, killer vocals, songs that make me sing, dance, smile and feel the heart of the music and what David is projecting in this album. I am thrilled that there is an artist like David out there who creates real music with substance and gives us lyrics you can actually enjoy singing along to! Fantastic job David, BRAVO!
It is interesting that someone thinks that Something 'bout Love, Elevator and Stomping the Roses are all the same...
I think they are wery different from each other.
Anyway I love the whole album and my favorites are The Other Side of Down, Stomping the Roses, Falling Stars and My Kind of Perfect!
