'Dancing With the Stars': Jennifer Grey rules again
A new, round dance floor, a two-tiered scoring system -- quite a bit was new on "Dancing With the Stars" Monday (Oct. 11).
Except the favorite. After a bobble last week, Jennifer Grey returned to front-runner status with an Argentine tango that was way ahead of everyone else's routine. She also scored the first 10s of the season.
The judges gave out two sets of scores Monday, grading the performers on the technical aspects of their dances as well as their performance. Grey and Derek Hough scored a 27 (all 9s) in the technical marks and a 29 -- 10s from Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba and a 9 from Len Goodman -- for performance. Grey finished eight points ahead of Brandy for the night's best score.
At the other end of the scale, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is in danger of being kicked back to the Jersey shore after scoring only a 28 out of 60. Bristol Palin (32) and Kurt Warner (34) could also be in trouble.
What did you think of Grey's performance? It seems like a race for second place at this point, doesn't it?

I don't know - this was amazing - but with all of her physical issues and her age, PLUS a family, stamina could be an issue down the road.
Their performance was totally amazing! I wouldn't worry too much about her stamina because Derek is a master at choreographing interesting but appropriate routines. He's said several times in the clips that he has to take her physical limitations into consideration. They make a fantastic team!!!
It was an excellent performance but I do have the feeling that she has more prior experience than the others and this is not a level playing field. Being a senior myself, I think it would be great if they had a separate competition for people over 55. Let's face it, how many people Florence Henderson's age can do the acrobatics required to win this?
I loved Derek and Jen's routine...I think it was THE best dance of the season so far.
No matter how many times people say Jennifer Grey has "more prior experience" the fact is she does not. She danced, once, decades ago in one movie in which her role was that of a non-dancer. That meant her lack of knowledge could be explained. She has not danced since. What she is doing now is ballroom, which is a much more difficult and complicated style, and she is learning it all from scratch. There's no uneven playing field, she is just working very hard and is very limber, despite her injuries.
JENN'S ON FIRE!!! That was the best Argentine Tango I've seen on this show!!!
@JustJoan: i think Jennifer had a ballet background before Dirty Dancing. she was a real dancer.
patrick had a back ground in dancing not jennifer
Jennifer does have a dancing backround per her Widipedia site -"She is an alumna of the Dalton School, a private school in Manhattan, and studied both dance and acting." Like Nicole before her, she does have an unfair competitive advantage as you have a good foundation in dance where other contestants don't. DWTS should adjust scores based on their level of dance experience.
