'Chuck,' 'Chase' get full seasons at NBC
"Chuck" vs. the waiting game for a full season has worked out favorably for our hero.NBC announced Tuesday (Oct. 19) that it's picking up a full fourth season of the series after only ordering 13 episodes initially. The pickup is for 11 additional episodes, bringing its total to 24 for the season.
"Back 11! 24 Chucks coming at ya this year," co-creator Josh Schwartz tweets. "Thanks to the greatest fans in the world!"
NBC has also given a full season to "Chase," its freshman drama about U.S. marshals. Today's news coupled with the pickup of "The Event" will presumably give the network a stable Monday-night lineup for the rest of the season.
"'Chase' has introduced an appealing new star to television audiences in Kelli Giddish, and we think it has potential to grow," NBC Entertainment president Angela Bromstad says. "We also are glad that 'Chuck' will be with us for a full season delivering its loyal, passionate audience."
Through Monday's telecast, "Chuck" has averaged a little under 6 million viewers per week and a 2.2 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic (those figures include DVR viewing for the first two weeks of the season and same-day viewing since then). While those numbers are hardly world-beaters -- the show finishes fourth in its timeslot -- they are consistent.
"Chase," meanwhile, draws 6.5 million people and a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demo. The network could be hoping it will pull in some male viewers when the NFL season and "Monday Night Football" end.

Chuck!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is great news yay!
im soo excited for CHUCK...not a fan of CHASE but congrats r in order!!
Can't say I'm surprised, given that NBC has absolutely nothing worthwhile waiting in the wings. Oh, well, at least the writers will be able to write themselves out of the corner they're in on The Event. And maybe that show and Chase will realize that Texas is not the same size as Connecticut, given how quickly they seem to get from one place to another.
And as for Chuck...a big grin here at that news. Way to go.
YAY CHUCK! Now if only NBC would give it a bigger budget because whoa the difference between seasons 1&2 and 3&4 in terms of sets and effects.
Chase is as every bit as good as Hawaii Five-O. Awesome show and I'm delighted that it has been picked up :) Well done NBC for a change. Now pick up Undercovers!!!!
I don't like it. They should just pull the plug on all of them. The ratings year-to-year compared to earlier is dropping.
yes, Chuck's ratings certainly are consistent" lmao....
I don't like it. The ratings keeps dropping at NBC. They think they have a big hit, but if you study year-to-year ratings it's only going one way. NBC should pull the plug on all of them and dig up something new and fresh.
Congrats to NBC for keeping Chuck & Chase for full season order and another good news, Undercovers also got pick-up. We wish these NBC shows to keep up the good work in order for us to help NBC escape the ratings basement until the NFL season is over.
Much to my surprise, I'm enjoying Chase, so I'm glad NBC is giving it a shot at a full season (even though these pick-ups basically point to a vote of no confidence in their mid-season shows).
