Have some midnight TV snacks ...After taking a breather from Hollywood to tackle some personal problems, Chris Klein is coming back to the biz on FOX's "The Good Guys." Klein will play George, the old partner of Jack (Colin Hanks). [EW]
Comedian Whitney Cummings has signed a deal to write, produce, and star in an unconventional romantic comedy for NBC. Insiders describe the Cummings show as a romantic comedy told through the point of view of a decidedly unromantic person; it's believed Cummings will base some of the pilot on her own material. Cummings will executive produce the untitled half-hour via Universal Media Studios. [Vulture]
"CSI" showrunner Carol Mendelsohn has sold a new crime drama to CBS. The currently untitled project brings to the small screen a series of suspense novels from author Thomas Perry. The thrillers star protagonist Jane Whitefield, known to readers in books such as "Vanishing Act." Across six novels, Whitefield is half-white, half-Indian young woman who works as a one-person witness protection program, helping hide people who are in danger. [THR]
TBS has given pilot orders to two comedy projects: "The Wedding Band," from producer Mike Tollin and Fremantle Media, and baseball-themed "Hound Dogs" from scribe Ron Shelton and Sony Pictures TV. "Wedding Band" revolves a group of guys who are in a band that plays weddings, with each episode revolving around a different gig. Project hails from scribes Josh Lobis and Darin Moiselle, who exec produce with Tollin. "Hound Dogs" is penned and exec produced by Shelton. [Variety]

Heard Cummings talk about the NBC show on Marc Maron's WTF podcast a couple of weeks ago. I like her, so I'll give it a look if it gets picked up. As long as it doesn't replace Community or Parks and REc, which if greenlit, most likely will, I'll be fine with it.
Very happy to hear on Klein being cast on The Good Guys. Not because I particularly like him, but it shows that at least The Good Guys isn't gone just yet. I love the show.
"The Good Guys" is a great show and I also hope this will help them stay on longer.
