Cablevision's Fox dispute: When will you get your games?
Three million Cablevision customers in the areas surrounding New York and Philadelphia got an unfortunate surprise this weekend when they flipped on their televisions to discover that the provider had dropped Fox. Yes, that means until a deal is made - no "Glee," no "Bones," and no Giants game. Negotiations with the network have come to a standstill, so customers continue to see dark screens.
As of Sunday afternoon - smack in the middle of that Giants game - the network said that they were still "far apart" from Cablevision, according to the NY Times.
Cablevision released a separate statement. "The longer this shameful News Corp. blackout of the NFL and Major League Baseball continues, the more obvious it becomes to everyone, including political leaders of both parties, that binding arbitration is the fastest and fairest way to return Fox programming to Cablevision customers," they say.
Through months of negotiations, the two companies have been unable to agree on a price. An increased price for Fox will likely result in higher bills for Cablevision subscribers.
If you've been affected by the blackout, you're out local news and weather, NFL games, and baseball playoffs -- but don't give up! Make sure to run a search on your Guide to make sure your favorite FOX programming isn't being broadcast on another channel. Additionally, iviTV.com, which airs certain local channels over the internet for $4.99 per month, was offering a 30-day free trial on Sunday -- just in time for that Giants game.

Fox can kiss my you know what!!!!! Not only are they blocking out Fx and some other channels on dish network but now this. All parties involved need to get this resolved asap!!!!!!
Disputes like this is why I use a DTV box besides relying on Cable and Dish subscriptions as I can just watch Bones and Glee on my DTV box.
Besides people should be used to this stuff by now as in 3/9/2004 the same thing happened with all MTV's, all VH1's, Comedy Central, Nickelodian and a few other channels that I remember.
lots of problems lately between Fox and the providers.... and as usual, the users get the short end of the stick...
Is fox trying to make every person who is a football, bones, baseball, glee fan mad in america?
fyi fox is owned by the same parent company as direct tv, they are trying to force people to sign up for direct tv and move them away from other providers
Two Scum Companies fighting with each other.
And we are in the middle
Buy rabbit-ears antenna and get it for free. You just have to watch the commercials. Oh, yeah, you get commercials on cable, FIOs, Dish too...and you pay for the privilege...and Fox wants to reach into your pocket through your cable provider.
Well, gee whiz, I have a solution... just don't get hooked on 'Glee' or 'Bones,' and then Fox won't be able to lean on people so hard to pay through the nose for it. We're a nation of addicts, and our drug is fantasy and escapism, and these people are the pushers. Books are relatively cheap, though. Better yet-- why don't we all just go outside once in a while, and live in the real world.
Newscorp (Fox) doesn't own Directv anymore. Those shares were traded to Liberty Media. Directv is a wholly owned subsidiary of Liberty Media now. Why should we be paying Fox for a network that is provided free to anyone with an antenna and on airwaves that were given to them by the government and us the people.
If your cable company takes away FOX, cancel your cable subscription. Sounds pretty easy to me. If every single cable subscriber would do this, the cable provider would be forced to cave in. EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO JUST SAY NO !!!
PS-
Who would want to watch the Giants v. Lions anyway? Order the Red Zone Channel and watch all the games.
