'Brothers & Sisters' EP addresses Kevin and Scotty's upcoming relationship drama

ABC just confirmed the rumors that Kevin and Scotty's relationship will be hitting some hard times on "Brothers & Sisters."
The network released a story synopsis showing that we'll learn in the Oct. 24 episode that Scotty (Luke MacFarlane) cheats on Kevin (Matthew Rhys) with Marcus, played by Broadway and "Three Rivers" star Christopher J. Hanke, pictured below.
When Zap2it spoke to executive producer David Marshall Grant, he didn't want to give us too many details on the story line. He did want to assure viewers that they'll appreciate the twists and turns they have planned for the couple.
"Scotty and Kevin are the most beloved couple on the show by all the writers, by the characters, by our fans," Grant tells Zap2it. "And I think they are an amazing couple and I think that we want to find exciting and great things for them that are dramatic and are going to be able to see their relationship in all its complexity. So I think it will be great."
Grant and the show's writers appear to have quite a story arc planned for the couple.
"I really think that the Scotty-Kevin story that will take us through the entire season is going to be a really great story," Grant says. "It's full of a lot of surprises, a lot of love and a lot of drama and I think it's an exciting one."
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) recently ranked ABC No. 1 among the broadcast networks for its representation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) roles in their scripted shows and Grant tells us he doesn't take the depictions of the LGBT experience lightly.
"We are all the same, filled with great possibilities and great limitations," he says. "And get days of success and sad days of failure. So, I feel like my responsibility to Kevin and Scotty is the same responsibility I feel in many ways to all characters. And I think that is the most important thing I can do for a gay couple on television is to make the world see that they are us, all of us, gay and straight, they are human beings first."
Grant can speak about the issue from both behind-the-scenes and in front of the camera. The former actor played Russell, a gay character, in a four-episode arc in 1989-90 on "Thirtysomething."

Nooooo, not Scotty. He's the balance beam of the relationship. I could see Kevin being tempted in all his life questioning moments of late, but had hoped Scotty would be the rock.
Right, it really doesn't seem like something Scotty would do.
I'll offer a counter-argument in that life with Kevin must be exhausting for Scotty, and so far this season (with the qualifier that I've not seen this past Sunday's episode) after the loss of the baby and his "best friend," Kevin has been particularly jerky. I could see Scotty getting to a place where he could give in at an especially weak moment. It doesn't hurt that, based on that picture at least, Chris Hanke is fairly hot.
Just cancel the damn show now. It's been a sinking ship for a while. Whatever, they have in store for these two, whatever season long crap you want to serve us--save it!! The bottom line is once you cheat-it's over!!
I am so fed up with the Kevin and Scotty Show! Rebecc and Justine deserve a better storyline. Alas, they already dropped Emily from the cast.
I love Kevin & Scotty but in all honestly, they've been a little boring lately. Last season it felt like every episode was the same. They argued something about the baby and Kevin was a jerk and Scotty forgave him. Over and Over again. So I am looking forward to a little drama for them. (Just so long as they end up together in the end.)
