'American Idol's' Nigel Lythgoe: Finding contestants 'Simon would have gotten rid of'

Nigel Lythgoe has come back to his executive producer position at "American Idol" and he tells Us Weekly that the show is finding more variety for Season 10 -- contestants who may not have gotten through if Simon Cowell had still been around."We've had some incredible country voices -- in truth, Simon would have gotten rid of them straight-away because he wasn't a country fan," Lythgoe told Us. "This season we have a 16-year-old kid with an incredible voice and a jazz kid who does this fabulous scat-singing. Again, we wouldn't have had him on the show because Simon would have said, 'He's not an 'American Idol,' get rid of him!' ... What you are definitely going to get this season is an American voice and American music."
Lythgoe also says that Jennifer Lopez is "growing in stature all the time," Steven Tyler is discerning about the "voice" of "American Idol" and Randy Jackson is "not the Randy you know ... he's standing up."

I'd be delighted if what we see is NOT the Randy we've known from the past -- i.e., worthless -- but I doubt it.
The whole bit about Simon is just nonsense. Depending on how many judges there were, it took either two or three votes to pass you through. One nay vote from Simon couldn't stop anyone.
As for Simon not passing country voices, has Lithgow even *watched* the show over the years? Good god, how many country singers have come out of AI? Just off the top of my head I can think of 6, and I didn't watch the first three seasons.
Same thing applies to the jazz kid Lithgow mentions. Ummm, what about beat-boxing Blake?
Sad how any praise of dat divet of divets miss thang the divet jenny from the block is just sickening. She is 10x more nasty than nasty Kara and 100x more dreadful than Paula. Haha lol porr thin.
