'American Idol': Lee DeWyze's album drops in November

Fans of "American Idol" winner Lee DeWyze will finally get a chance to hear his new music -- starting next week."Live It Up," the first single from his debut album, will premiere on "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest's radio show Wednesday (Oct. 13). The full album, also called "Live It Up," goes on sale Nov. 16 from 19 Recordings/RCA Records.
"Putting out an album on a major label is truly a dream come true," DeWyze says. "I'm excited for all the people who supported me throughout Idol to hear what I can do with my own songs. The album shows a whole different side of me and I'm so proud of it."
DeWyze co-wrote most of the songs on the album, collaborating with the likes of Toby Gad (Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry") and John Shanks (Sheryl Crow's "Steve McQueen"). "Live It Up" was recorded over the summer while he toured with the other "Idol" finalists from this season.
The label describes the album as a mix of "rootsy pop, rock and folk." DeWyze cites influences like Simon and Garfunkel, Cat Stevens and the Mamas and the Papas, saying "I love hard-edged vocals over pretty melodies -- that's what I'm about. I really admire guys like Dave Matthews and Ray LaMontagne, and to now be on the same record label as them -- it just blows my mind."

I'm looking forward to Lee's album, he's one of the most legitimate artists to come out of the Idol factory.
Probably not. If any of his songs get played, I will listen and judge if I want to hear more. Wasn't impressed with the few shows I saw last year. Everyone seemed to sing consistently off key except Cyrstal. And even then, the whole bunch bored me to tears. Sorry, could sugar coat it.
I do not buy albums when they have to use auto tune. To me they are not singers if they can't sing on their own and have to use aid. I will not buy anything of Lee's. He is a dime a dozen.
Tom: So sorry that your music collection will all be last century as almost all artist today use autotune. Autotune can also be used for live concerts.
